Reception varies between 0 and 1 bar, and only because the RF path is reflected. There is no direct line of site to the only AT&T cell tower servicing this area. Have also tried Verizon and Nextel (Sprint) with equally poor results. Verizon appears to provide only a slight marginal improvement over the other carriers and overall provides poor coverage. I have repeatedly complained to AT&T customer support regarding the issue. Apparently this upper middle class neighborhood does not provide sufficient revenue to justify the capital expense to service.
Neither Nextel, Verizon, nor Cingular provide adequate coverage for this area. All carriers appear to share a single tower, which, considering the uneven terrain, is inadequte to the task. It seems to me that the cell phone companies are only concerned about having a presence on the mountain for marketing purposes. Actuall performance is well below acceptable standards.
I've had three different phones and I con never get Verizon reception on most of Signal Mtn. Very poor service. When are they going to get a cell tower up there on top of the mountain.
There has been no service at this location, in the Hidden Brook Section of Signal Mountain, for the past four years. Evidently there has been no test drive made. Ronald M. Eytchison 423 886 2823
