Within the city of Memphis, my Cingular coverage is FABULOUS. But we've recently purchased a home on 25 acres just outside of Somerville, and the reception is quite terrible. It isn't so much a lack of coverage as interference, dropped calls, and not being able to hear every other syllable of the words. This is on the receiving end, mind you. Going out, it really doesn't seem all that bad, but the person you're talking to gets fed up and calls you on the house phone in order to make sense of anything. When my in-laws came to visit with their Verizon phones, they were able to get much better coverage. I haven't been impressed with how I've seen my friends handled by Verizon, but if things aren't better by the time my contract is up in March, I may have to switch. Cingular's customer service is far, far superior to that of Verizon's. I've found them to be extremely polite and helpful with any issues that have come up.
