I don't have 3G unless I put the unit by a window that faces San Antonio. When the aircard goes from 2 blue lights to 1 blue / 1 red, its slower than dialup. When its 2 blue, its at least better than the Sprint and T-Mobile aircards that I have used in the past.

Works OK upstairs, but downstairs or outside, forget about it. I have to drive 5 miles towards San Antonio before service improves. I *think* it's the strength of the nearby TV / radio towers futzing with the cell signal, but can't confirm.

In 2005, when I arrived here, my Sprint phone did not provide good reception. I swithed to Verizon. Two were Razrs and one was a Motorola flip top phone. None worked. No signal at all. I switched to Cingular and I have had it 2 yrs. At home signal is weak. My house is covered by oaks. I get lots of dropped calls, can barely understand the person speaking, voice mails come in days late. In SA, I get 5 bars and the calls are just as bad. I switched to an LG 400. It didn't sound too bad, but the signal was weak and it doesn't work very well at home either. Three months later I bought a Sony Erickson, supposed to be a really good phone, sounds worse than the LG. My wife and daughter use the Razr. My daughter has gone through 3 phones already. I think she must have dropped it a couple of times. I am thinking of going back to my LG 400. Maybe buy a newer one.

Sprint would be acceptable if the service reached all the way to my house. As it stands, it is just 1 / 2 mile shy of reaching. If I don't power off my cell when I reach home, the phone will drain the battery in just 2 - 3 hours trying to acquire a signal. For me, dropped calls occur maybe twice a week: I don't know why, but the bars will disappear even in a known strong-signal area.

Cingular states this is a medium coverage area (947 Willow Bend, in Adkins) but since I moved to the area I have had NO coverage. I have contacted Cingular several times concerning the issue without resolution.
