Manor and Alexander / East Austin, Austin, TX 78722 |

Poor to no reception in east austin near Manor and Airport. Never ever let anyone talk you into going with Cingular. Absolutely the worst compnay I've ever dealt with in my entire life. Have had multiple Cingular users at my house with a variety of phones and no one gets a useable signal at my house or anywhere on my street, yet Cingular claims it's the equipment, and that I should buy a new phone. Crooks! Steer clear of these low life jerks and go with anyone else. You would have better luck with some yarn and plastic cups.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I get 1 bar... OK, almost never! Now, how can coverage be so bad and I'm virtually in the middle of the city??? Less than 5 miles from downtown Austin! Cingular's respnse??? "Sorry."

Downstairs in my house I get dropped calls or it doesn't ring and then I get a beep that I have a voicemail. Upstairs is fine with 5 bars.

Nothing but hills here... ... .you'd need a tower on every hilltop to get down in these ravines. Signal drops to zero near Hull Cir. and again at the Bee Creek bridge (The High Road). T-Mobile is the only carrier that gets even two bars halfway consistently near the bridge, and even though calls break up occasionally, calls seldom get dropped. I've tried Cingular, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon... ... .don't find yourself in this area needing to make an emergency call on those systems. You will die of frustration well before you can bleed to death. Dropouts are also frequent on the south side of Red Bud also, starting within a quarter mile of Bee Caves Rd. Cell phone frequencies are high enough that they are fairly line of sight... ... .if you can't see a tower with your eye, it may not see your phone, making an idyllic location near the creek a poor place for yapping on the phone, especially if power lines are near.

I cannot use my cell phone at home. Reception goes from 4 bars to 0 bars in the house without moving the phone. I can use it at one point in the back yard. Works great in Dallas and Houston, though.

I live close to San Jose Church between S. 1st St. and Lamar. Reception from home is usually 1 to 2 bars. I cant walk and talk at the same time without the reception breaking up a lot of the time. Reception on S. Congress is slightly better, maybe 3 bars. Sprint had better reception than T-Mobile. The sound is always crackly with a lot of dropped words, very annoying, especially when talking with clients.

As soon as I leave work and head North on 183 access, then U -turn at Anderson Mill, I'm constantly losing reception. Also have poor reception at work (Artisan Cabinetry and Design) (Near Main Event). Then there's the 183 fly over to Mopac, lose it there. And of course forget driving on 2222. AT&T was much better with it's reception. Cingular just sucks. Heard it might be my phone (Cingular doesn't support it any more) but there's not another decent phone out there that downloads to outlook and vice versa.

Ever since At&T and Cingular merged I have had terrible reception at home. I was persuaded to go with Cingular's GSM service - BIG MISTAKE. The receptuion has only gotten worse. The Cingular store claimed my phone was to blame. I should have kept the old phone. Cingular is sadly mistaken if they think their service is ANYWHERE near what AT&T provided. I can be sitting in my living room (not moving) and the bars will go up and down and I can get cut off mid conversation with someone sitting stagnant as well.

We have Att, Cingular, and Verizon in our household. ATT TMDA by far is the best, Verizon 2nd and then Cingular. My kid with Cingular has to step outside alot of the time to talk. Verizon seems to work pretty well in the house. I really dread it when my service goes completely to Cingular. I've been shopping around and found this site. It doesn't look like any one service is perfect.

Occasionally I get reception inside my home, but it quickly drops to no reception - and that's while I'm sitting still! I can't walk and talk at the same time. Cingular swears there's plenty of towers in the neighborhood but my neighbor has the same problem, and he has Verizon. I'm getting a land line.

Spring PCS reception is generally goodin Austin; however, like clockwork, always drops calls when traveling in either direction on 2222 in between MOPAC and Mt. Bonnell Road. People I talk with can even anticipate the timing. Ridiculous.

I live in the Ridge apartments, and I've got 2-3 bars on standby, but as soon as I answer a call, the reception drops to 1 bar or less, and I lose the call literally every time. It's ridiculous. Reception outside of the apartment complex, but still near Far West is decent. Reception on campus is not so bad, and actually, reception is acceptable in most places. However, there is a definite dead spot in the Rockdale-Temple area for me.

I get fine calls at home, work and around town. The number of bars is typically low, 1-3 however that seems to not effect the call quality. bad: at the super target on 183 I get into an extended area and calls will go strait to voicemail, with spotty call reception.
