TREO phones and ATT service do nto go together. Regularly miss calls, voice manil does not pick up... .as a Realtor I travel all over Austin. Some days the phone works, other days... .it doesn't pick up calls. I get the missed call message hours or days later. Weekends are expecially bad for reception. I tihnk it is an ATT issue, and this type of phone is not known to be that great for reception. I am on my third TREO... .screens go out and ATT replaces them for me. They all suck.
Fairly good coverage in the area. Call quality is usually good; though, there are a few random dropped calls. I've found the coverage better than Sprint's coverage in Austin. Though, Verizon needs to update their phone selection. I've had my phone for two years and none of the Verizon phones look appealing. AT&T has the iPhone, Sprint has the Pre, and Verizon has a stripped-down Blackberry with no wi-fi. I'm trying to decide whether to wait on Verizon getting the Pre or jumping ship to AT&T for the iPhone.
Atrocious reception at my own house... often cannot even hold a conversation. Other side can't hear me, call drops... really bad. Just signed a 2-year contract to get my Blackberry... nightmarish. If you live in this area, do yourself a favor and get another carrier...
I only get 5 bars with T-Mobile in the city but when iI drive to abilene,tx no service at ALL only some parts of the country side it says mid-west were the carrier name is so pos tobe some time it says AT&T on my T-Mobile phone?
Constant dropped calls. If not every call, every other call. I always enjoy it when the Sprint customer service person says, "I can't hear you, you are really breaking up." I like to point out that I am roughly in the center of Austin. I always give my Sprint commercial: Don't use sprint, don't ever use sprint, dear God don't use sprint. or "You can't hear me now." -my personal favorite.
According to the tower coverage map on this site, there AREN'T any Verizon towers in my area of Austin! I get maybe 3 bars in my yard and only 1-2 bars in my house. Where I work I fluctuate between 0-1 bar all day long. I've also called cust svc and was told he just couldn't believe they were having a problem with so many towers in Austin - it had to be my phone. This is a brand new phone, and I had the same problem with my previous phone which was a newer model that I traded in. Verizon needs more towers in South Austin.
