With Verizon - Tons of lost calls Called Verizon about it today They suggested dialing *228send, then select option 2 to update cell phone towers in area for better reception The update worked fine and powered on and off my phone. But It did not help reception.

I moved here about 5 months. The reception on my old Nokia was really bad and this was my fourth one in 4 months about this time, so AT&T authorized me to get another phone. (In my previous city, only the Nokia brand with AT&T would work in my house.) So I got a Samsung Sync. It consistently dropped calls, had reception so bad intermittently that often people would say they could not hear me, and had me so crazy with trying to figure out where in the house or yard I could get reception. So they authorized another phone plus the accessories, since I had just bought both recently. I've had the new phone 2 weeks, and the reception is deplorable, commonly, and was so bad on a recent call with Cingular on an unrelated issue that the rep authorized me for a a different phone. Often I cannot hear with this phone, and today two calls out of three were dropped, one with the health insurance company. Grrrr. One time today I walked to the very back of the yard and got some reception. I have to get another provider. Forget the replacement phone and the money I spent for the Sync and accessories. Cash down the tubes. Will investigate this website. Thrilled that it exists! At least I can see that I'm not the only who detests AT&T's service in Austin.

Number of bars can vary greatly inside my house. I often have 1-2 bars inside the house, yet calls get dropped, so I often go outside on my patio to complete long calls.

granted that I live in condos that were built in '73, I still can't get calls inside my residence. I drop 4 out of 6 calls, can't send text messages, and standing on my front porch doesn't help. My reception THROUGHOUT the Far West area is really bad. I was happy with my Sprint service while I lived near UT's campus. Since I have moved, i've had nothing but problems with my reception. I have to wait until i'm leaving my condo complex ( I don't know why I don't just call it an apartment... but technically... ) to check voicemails and return calls. I even went so far as to purchase a sprint-badged / branded passive repeater. It ALMOST helped. My roommate uses T-Mobile (i think), and he has few problems. Looks like i'll be picking a different carrier at the end of my contract.

T Mobile had next to no reception during ACL. Most of their competitors brought in mobile cell tower trucks to park at Barton Springs, but they didn't. I live nearby and it took ten tries on average to make calls and 10-30 to send text messages. I have now dropped them for Cricket. Unlimited minutes! Everyone should offer that. I had it for two years in Boulder and loved it. I put 4000 hours on a Nokia, rarely a dropped call. $30 a month now for unlimited text and daytime minutes.

There has been a dead spot in the 5300 block of Fort Benton Dr.for years. I wish AT&T would fix it. Indoors, you get no reception.

Sucks... .which is why I still have a landline in the house. Dropped calls, little to no signal. Seems provider "downgrades" service for older phones to induce you to buy a new handset - anyone know about this?
