none of the carriers have signal in this apartment complex. however, t mobile has a wifi connection for free that you can use your wifi on and therefore get great fantastic service. when using the wifi connection it doesn't go against your minutes. I believe this is the only carrier that offers this solution. t mobiles customer service is the best I've ever had. I just bought the g 2 x. Great phone.

While I've had all kinds of problems with Sprint's trying to sell me 4G laptop connectivity and not delivering (went thru 2 devices, 3 major American cities, no luck) and Sprint's having sold me a very poor phone (HTC Hero - absolute piece of garbage), until now I had no complaints about their coverage. Just moved to the northwest hills of Austin and the calls drift in and out and drop regularly in my new house. Three strikes Sprint, you're out. I'm going to find another carrier after *12* years!

Almost no reception at all. Calls are full of static and frequently dropped. I walked around the complex and couldn't get more than one bar. Ironically, I live half a mile from the Cricket Store.

Hopeless service inside my home - I can't successfully make or answer a call indoors. Callers report hearing the ringing stopping, then nothing after I hit the green button to receive the call. Unreliable while standing in my back yard. Calls get dropped every 5-10 minutes, words get dropped every minute. I get notified of voicemail when the phone never rang and AT&T reports no missed calls. For important calls I have to get in my car and drive a mile away. I'm very disappointed in AT&T.

Sprint claims that this is in one of there best coverage zones, but I can't even send and receive phone calls or text messages. At best you can only hear evey other word and expect the call to be dropped every few seconds.

For about a week now, there has been zero reception in the Brushy Creek Area, or when there is reception it simply says "Emergency". When I leave the Brushy Creek area and go to the Arboretum area, or other parts of Austin, reception is fine.

i recently moved to austin and live with friends on the south side of the city. My phone says I have at least 3 bars but continues to drop calls. When I try to call out it is silence and no ring. I use to live in Chicago and had great service even when living in a basement apartment I'm very disappointed!

Been with T-Mobile for a few years, I've had had multiple android phones. East austin it sucks, dropped calls, crapy data coverage and some time nothing at all for small periods of time. But west austin and down town are great, but I can still go several minutes with nothing. As for Verizon I hear mixed emotions and also AT&T customers I know have stories of their own. Although with Verizon seeming the best I have found that they ALL seem to suck in austin. San antonio, san marcos, houston all have amazing coverage for my T-Mobile homies and I. But with all this upgrading to "4G" I believe that it is affecting service and will for some time till its all setup. Can't win em' all I guess. THE G2 ROCKS FACE BTW! AND WHEN 4G IS ROCKIN ITS SUPER FAST. AND TMOBILE CUST SERVICE IS THE BEST HANDS DOWN!

Unable to receive texts from AT&T on the Sprint network after update from Sprint. Called Sprint service and Sprint said they had no means to test or diagnose the problem and attempted to blame their interoperability on AT&T although it was due to a Sprint update. They had no idea what was wrong and were unable to diagnose the problem. Completely incompetent. Canceled contract due to poor service and incompetence. Suggest Sprint users to cancel Sprint, rebel against contracts and excessive charges by providers.

Sprint is solid. Better than my girls t mobile and my brothers AT&T by along shot... even in remote areas I still get great coverage. Also in the last few years their customer service is actually good doing a 180 there. They're cheap too, and they have a couple of real nice phones.

My phone is useless on campus. Useless. I don't get dropped calls; I don't even GET calls. Internet, weather apps, news updates, sending texts--forget it. When I walk of campus, my phone jingles, and I have 20+ emails, texts, and voicemails. AT&T is worthless here. I'm not sure what I am going to do in this case, but since I have a lawyer provided to me through UT, I promise I won't be sticking with AT&T

I go to UT and service here sucks. I thought it was just me, but I know a couple of areas that no one gets good service. Seems pretty consistent that all phone companies are making people pay for no service, you're not alone!

Coverage in this neighborhood is great, but if you live in the 5350 Burnet apartments, you will need to buy a network extender. There is almost no service at all inside the building. This seems to be a problem for people on the first floor, in particular. Before I got a network extender, I couldn't carry on any conversations on my phone at all. Couldn't send texts, either. With the equipment, it's much, much better. My phone's GPS has no idea where I am when I'm connected through the extender, but that's fine. If I need to look up a map at home, I can just do it on my computer.

21st St. Jester Dorm, Austin, TX 78705 |
Wed Aug 25, 2010 |
I just dropped off my daughter at Jester Dorm at Univ of Texas. AT&T has no coverage in a dorm with 3000 students! I was in the lobby and outside trying to call my daughter's cell and I had four bars (as did she) and no calls went through. You dial the number and you just get silence. I asked the receptionist in the dorm and she said it was long standing problem. This is crazy in many ways including the fact that I was staying on campus in the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center! This is one of the largest dorms in the US and there are no land line phones in the dorm rooms. How can AT&T not put up a tower nearby to fix this mess. Same problem with text messaging by the way.

I'm using Boost Mobile (Sprint subsidiary) Blackberry 8330. No dropped calls, great network reliability and such a major improvement from having been with AT&T for 6 years. Service Coverage I've noticed is excellent in the Scofield Ridge Subdivision. I've also traveled all over Pflugerville, Round Rock and NW Austin and haven't had one dropped call yet in now 9 months. People - check out Boost Mobile, its $60.00 a month for UNLIMITED EVERYTHING, plus $4.95 taxes ($64.95). Just a good value and good network here in the Austin / Central Texas area.

I just moved to this location. Indoors, that is inside my house, I get essentially no reception. I can occasionally get a EV-DO network readout (with no bars), and I can get a ring through, but not enough signal conduct a full phone call or to keep the call from dropping 50% of the time. Outside, I get 1 bar, which is usually enough to finish a phone call. Ultimately, I will have to switch networks.

AT&T continues to provide terrible service throughout the NW area of Austin. 1 out of every 3 phone calls received and placed gets dropped, or I receive a message which states 'call congestion', 'dropped call' or a fast busy-signal when I try to dial out. AT&T for the past 12 months says they're fixing their network -bull. I'm going back to Sprint whereby I didnt have all these issues. AT&T needs to begin paying their Customers to get their service as AT&T stinks.
