Although I have to give Cingular web "chat" customer service and later, 800 number help, the reception is non-existent at my home. Admittedly, I am in a depression near lake Austin below Mansfield Dam. There is a tower fairly close, but there is no "line of sight" to my home. I asked Cingular if I could use a "loaner" phone to see if my LG just wasn't good enough in a weak signal area, but they said "no". So I'm looking for another carrier. Does anybody know what carrier(s) are on the large tower right at the dam? thanks

I work in the real estate markets of SW Austin and Sprint is the worst. Dropped call after dropped call out of my house. From reading these other boards, I would think you to be an idiot if you are south of the city and have Sprint.

No matter how many bars my phone tells me I have, when I'm in Austin, and sitting in my own house especially, my phone just drops. It often takes 4-5 phone calls to finish a conversation. The service is ridiculous.

Little or no reception after trying multiple different service providers in this populated area. If one provider establish consistent quality reception, many in this area would switch.

My home is a black hole. I only have signal upstairs to use my phone. Regardless, callers report daily busy signals and "subscriber not in service" message when I'm not even on the phone. Calls end midsentence and my caller reports getting these responses when trying to reconnect. Outgoing calls take a ling time to start to ring, including checking voicemail. Outgoing text messages often require retrys to succeed. Incoming messages often delayed by 20 minutes. The voice quality is also incredibly bad. It's bad enough that I'll probably quit T-Mobile if they don't respond to my recent letter. This is a 'denial of service' situation and I don't care about my credit report, so they can forget the termination fee.

I recently moved from Boston, and I have been with Sprint for 5 years. I have never seen such poor service in my life. I never have service, when I do I am constantly dropping calls. I'll be standing still and my call will drop. I am trying to find a way to get out of my contract. Add to that the radom charges, illegal taxes, and over priced plans, and I say RUN. Dont do it.

From within building at 8303 N. Mopac, reception is terrible with Sprint (max 2 bars and I have to search high and low - ~-99dB). Others have Cingular and get full service...
