Sprint

Since moving onto the shores of Lake Austin 4 years ago, I have watched Steiner Ranch quadruple in size, all of my neighbors homes are are multi million dollar homes and they are building new neighborhoods on both sides of Quinlan Park road like crazy. You would think that at least one of the carriers would recognize the potential to get all the cell phone business in this area. We have had side by side comparisons of every provider during parties at my house. Not one of the carriers is capable of providing a strong enough signal to make a call. The most we could get is one bar with Cingular but the call drops within seconds. I contacted Sprint and informed them of the growth out here but they don't seem to care. I am forced to rely on lanlines only.

Dropped calls and static is the norm. Have never had clear reception inside house, have to move around house to find halfway decent recption. Spot will vary. When traveling we have found that our backup phone (Tracfone Nokia) is not only more relaiable but gets better reception than Cincular. When our commitment with Cingular is over we'er switching!

Been with Sprint 8 years. When I moved to this location my reception was average (owned a Sanyo RL-8700 I believe). Then about 4 months ago I started getting many dropped calls and very poor and often no reception. I purchased a new phone (for other reasons than reception) and I still have horrible reception. I've never experienced this bad of service from Sprint. If fact, I can't remember having a dropped call while in Austin until 4 months ago.

I've used Nextel for 6 years and been completely satisfied. Mostly use cellular service, not too much walkie-talkie. Dropped calls occur about once every 2-3 months. Frequently travel all around Austin, very few spots with out service. Very happy with service, almost never have to call customer service with problems.

Cingular Sucks do not get this service. Reception was much better with ATT. Now I know why there is a Class Action lawsuit filed by former ATT customers.

In the Riata Bldg Complex, this phone / carrier provides terrible service. I know that providers don't offer any sort of service level agreement inside buildings, but I sit right next to a window, and I my reception provides mostly unintelligibly garbage.

The only dropped calls / no service I've experienced are near Mt. Bonnell (due to rock cliffs) and on Bullick Hollow Rd. near Volente (very spotty service).

Cingular is absolutely horrible at the Hart Lane / Balcones area off of Far West. I have a couple of bars most of the time, until a call comes in. Then it immediately drops to no bars and I can barely hear the person on the call. Cingular has terrible service in this area.

I normally get decent reception outside of my home. In my house, I get between 1 and three bars. I very rarely have a dropped call. I travel domestically and internationally and have good reception anywhere I go with this phone. Cingular customer service is a nightmare to call - buy aren't they all?
