Cingular is the worst service I've ever had. Before when they were AT&T it was far superior. My phone breaks up way too often when I'm driving. If I drive just a few miles, the phone will break up or drop the call over and over again.

Every call I make breaks up so badly that either I, or the person I'm talking to are constantly asking to repeat ourselves. It drops often, but the worst part is the reception is so downright awful, that every sentence loses a word or two. It's as if I said "this phone sucks ass, I'd rather not have it at all", and you hear, thi ph-ne su ss, I'd ra--r not ha at --lll" I own a very expensive top of the line a year ago Sony Ericsson and I've never had such bad reception on any phone. Whether it's the phone or the service (cingular) I don't know, but I'm am extremely displeased. Cingular customer service blows, they just make lame excuses as if I'm the only one instead or working to rectify the situation.

Ever since the Cingular AT&T acquisition my phone reception in Austin 183 corridor has become horrible. The performance of Cingular borders on the criminal and they better get their act together.

The reception is horrible at my place. I have to walk down to the street to make a call. My new strategy is to call someone back, after getting a conneciton with bad reception. The bars on my phone are like a rollercoaster.

As with the other 6 / 19 / 06 post we had no problems until several days ago-called customer service and told them we went from 3 to o bars. Sent us to a Cingular store to have both phones checked and software upgraded--no change--person at the store said Cingular and ATT have started combining towers and it is messing with the signal strength.

I have had Cingular in Austin for 1.5 years and loved it! In the last 5 days, my reception is horrible. 5 bars go to 0 bars for no apparent reason. I am not even moving! Home reception went from great to sketchy. What is going on with Cingular over the past week?

Absolutely horrendous. I can be talking to someone while laying down, not moving at all, and reception goes from fine to nothing. I drop every call I make from my apartment, IF i'm allowed to make the call to begin with (half of the time I can't even connect). I live five minutes from downtown, and this is totally unacceptable. While typing this I received a call that was dropped within the first twenty seconds. I answered the phone, someone speaks for a little, and then nothing! While I lived in Los Angeles Cingular was great, but ever since they merged with AT&T it's been a nightmare. I'm cancelling my service tomorrow and will find another, ANY other service.

I can't even get good reception inside my house, if I want to make an important call "say for an interview" I have to go outside, because it breaks up and there's so much static. T-Mobile however, works perfectly fine and clear in this area and even inside my house.

Had Sprint in Austin for 8 years now and now I see why Sanyo is #1 in JD Power for reception. I only drop calls in Barton Creek Mall on the lower level. I sell three providers and Sprint has the best reception, BUT, have your phone software updated once and a while and use Sanyo. Stay away from Samsung and LG on Sprint with the exception of the Samsung A-900. Sanyo is still who I suggest.
