Never had any trouble with signal or dropped calls until my phone aged. ie. dropped it, threw it, ran over it, washed it, swam with it... Got a new one and excelent service. Wouldn't think of having anyone else for a provider. I travel quite a bit and go boating, and still got service when all my iphone buddies did not. :-D

I have enough reception to answer a call, but it is immediately dropped. Data reception is intermittent.

It doesn't work at all in my office building downtown, which is real convenient. It doesn't work at all at home in Westlake which is real convenient. It works in 30 second intervals between work and home which is real convenient because pretty much every call is going to get dropped. Cingular = terrible service in Austin.

Never had any problems with AT&T TDMA - sounded great. Switched to AT&T GSM and it sucks! Noticeable static on all the calls. Phone says full signal strength but sounds terrible! Switching back to TDMA.

I live and work in 78702 and I can't use my cell phone at home or at my office. There is a tiny area between them - i'll get good service for about 2 blocks - then nothing.

Occasionally I get reception inside my home, but it quickly drops to no reception - and that's while I'm sitting still! I can't walk and talk at the same time. Cingular swears there's plenty of towers in the neighborhood but my neighbor has the same problem, and he has Verizon. I'm getting a land line.

0 - 2 bars tops. Frequently calls drop and incoming goes straight to voice mail. Sometimes have to go stand in front yard to talk. If carriers were not so secretive about tower locations, you could figure out what the problem was - ie phone, terrain, buildings or what.

AT&T used to be good in this area, but now is dropping calls almost every time I drive down Windsor at MoPac and is very poor in my office (Windsor and Exposition).

What good is a cell phone if it doesn't work at your house? We've tried 3 different phones. Clearly, TMobile's coverage over here stinks.

Actually get good reception on a Samsung flip phone that is 2 years old (3-4 bars). Lower floor of 2 story condo. Do get dropped called downtown 6th and Congress on Sprint. Bought a T-Mobile Blackberry Curve 8320 a week ago and only get 1-2 bars and already 2 dropped calls, one in the middle of a T-Mobile store survey... Might try Verizon...

Sucks... .which is why I still have a landline in the house. Dropped calls, little to no signal. Seems provider "downgrades" service for older phones to induce you to buy a new handset - anyone know about this?

Abysmal. When I'm at home and my phone's in my pants, forget about it. When it's sitting on the coffee table, I will still commonly have calls dropped altogether. Like another poster mentioned, I can stand in one spot and watch my reception go from 5 bars to none, within a few seconds. Sometimes I'll place a call, even when I have decent reception, and the call will just cut out as soon as I make it, with no warning or error message or anything; I just look down at the phone and it's at the menu screen. This is probably partially a problem with the phone software, but I think it has more to do with the awful network. Also have absolutely zero reception within my office at 78723 (NE Austin). Unfortunately I've got another year and a half left on this contract... . but fortunately I'll be in DC for most of it, where reception is okay.

I am so frustrated, because 9 times out of 10 I cannot dial out on my phone when calling from home. When driving in Austin it's spotty just about everywhere. But where I need it most is at home and the service is so lousy and all I get is a recording saying my call cannot be connected at this time. Well what am I going to do if there's an emergency?! I pay lots of money to Cingular each month and for what?! This is such a rip off and it sucks that I'm locked into a contract with them for a service that doesn't work.
