Ok, for those of you complaining about reception issues who live around alot of trees, obstructions, etc. it is due to conditioning or obstructions like alot of trees, barns and stuff like that; not neccessisarily your carriers fault. I have friends who have different carriers and live in different conditions and each one of them have their quirks. I have been with AT&T when it was Cingular and when I first got a cell phone I couldnt call out at all from my house and now I can and I live around alot of trees and obstructions. its not full bar signal but I live with it. it gets better with each year and cell phones have not been around or that popular for all that long and tower placement is regulated and has very little to do with the carrier, what I mean is a carrier can not just put a tower up when and where they want without going through alot of red tape. I know this because I used to erect communication towers and all of that is regulated by the FCC, ( Federal Communication Commission) for those of you that do not know. pesonally when I worked in oilfield all my coworkers who had verizon, Sprint or any other carrier besides AT&T had very little or no service, where I always had 3 or more bars. and for those of you that dont know Cingular bought AT&T and then decided to change the name back to AT&T because it was a more recognizible name than cingular. Long story short, I am happy with my carrier and my reception will only get better with time. Rock on AT&T. Loyal customer since 2003.

You can stand on the back porch and get decent reception on a good clear day, but in the house or front porch no reception at all. My husband has Sprint and has the same problem. We have tried alltell as well. As much as we pay for cell service it seems that we should be able to get better service.

FM 1651 / Texas 47, Canton, TX 75103 |

I guess I am in a dead zone... .recently someone had a bad accident on FM 47 about one mile as the crow flys from our location. People that came up on the accident had to drive almost 2miles to get enough bars to call 911. It is really agravating! On really good days we get one bar with AT&T. We have also tried Sprint, and Cingular without any luck.

Very spotty throughout Canton. Once outside city it works better than most! Most every county seat in this area has great coverage, except Canton.

There is a reception comment that says just east of Canton, TX. there is a dip with poor to no reception. I live 300 yds. south of IH-20 in that dip. I am puzzled why that can't be resolved for the residents in this particular area. As a retired SBC employee from Engineering Network Quality I find this to be unacceptable service. There are 7 cell towers within 1mile or less of this location. AT&T cell customers should be bustin them bars but were not.

IH-20 just east of Canton, Canton, TX 75103 |
Thu Feb 26, 2004 |
Just east of Canton is a valley-like dip for about 1/2 a mile in the highway, where the reception drops from full to nearly none. But it only lasts about a minute or two, depending on how fast one is driving and gets back to higher ground.
