Reception In my House before wasting money on a 3g microcell was 0-2 bars. The Good news with a 250.00 microcell is I have 4 bars. The bad news is I now have 5 bars and I have random working coverage. I get network Busy incoming calls go to dead air. After Spending 3 hours calling ATT every time my phone was not working today I learned something. THe micro Cell needs the GPS to locate its self and connect to the nearest ATT cell tower. Well this is great becuase if the tower is why I had to buy the microcell It wont do me a lot of good. We also get poor sound quality when using the microcell from more than 20 feet. Garbled Voice. One ATT rep advised me to turn off three g on the I phone 4s. I had to explain to her if we did that then we would be disconected from the Microcell and have 0 bars. That I guess would resolve the poor sound Quality, since we could not make calls. If you live in NW austin When I talked to Verizon today they offered to loan us a Phone to test their network. They have confidence in their network not lip service. AT&T should remove all messages on their attendent about their wonderfull network.

There is absolutely no consistent reception in this area. We recently moved here from the Dallas area. I have never had so many dropped calls. In fact, every call I have at any length will have static or breaks on the call. AT and T what is the deal?

Until 2 weeks ago I had no problems with AT&T. Now I have had several calls dropped in the Cedar Park Regional parking lot at 1431 and 183A. At 183 and Cypress Ck east, the bars vary from 5 - 2 and there is static and a fairly regular electronic harsh noise / hiccup. This is really annoying. I think there must be a problem with the tower.

I've had AT&T / Cingular for several years. Have had few instances of dropped calls during that time. Works great here.

Dropping calls all the time. 12 times in last 2 days. Verizon customer service re-programmed it, saying it was wrong from the get-go. Did not help! Don't know it's the network or the phone, but I'm hearing other Verizon users say the same things.

I love my Verizon phone. I have super reception everywhere I use it. I have very few dropped calls. I used it recently in rurual East Texas and had no problems. In my opinion, Verizon rocks!

I cannot use my cell phone, no sending or receiving at home in Cedar Park. Get 4 to 5 bars but no calling area. I basically have a $50 a month useless object. Once I pass the Austin city limit sign on 183 North my phone is dead even with 4 bars. No usage at all. I have called Verizon more than a dozen times to no avail, all I get is double talk. Verizon response is that for some reason my phone is picking up the Cingular tower and that is why my phone analogs all day long. They cant seem to fix anything. I'm glad I signed only a 1 year contract when I moved to Austin.

Had perfect reception with AT&T but switching to Cingular it's awful. I lose signal driving down Mopac these days. I am willing to cancel my contract but I am scared I'llchoose the wrong provider and then I'll be stuck in the same position I am in now.

It all depends on if I'm inside the building or outside. you can't get no reception if inside the place. that's bad when the weather is bad outside because there is no protection. Going out to Jonestown is really bad, it keeps cutting off.

We have awful reception in our house and usually have to go outside to use the phone, but sometimes even driving the street I'll lose the signal. Driving down 1431 towards Jonestown I lose my signal 3 or 4 times nearly every day! We had AT&T TDMA for years and loved it. When we first switched over to GSM we could manually select the network to find a tower that worked better, but now they all just show Cingular and are awful. Granted my husband has a Sony Erickson T637 and his reception is better than mine but still loses calls in the house and on 1431.

I have had very good reception with Sprint wireless as my "home" phone service for the past 2 and 1 / 2 years. Occasionally I will get a dropped call or my phone will not ring when I get an incoming call, but that has been rare and has not really been a problem at all. I am concerned with problems due to Sprint merging with Nextel. For example, one month they messed up my bill and then corrected the problem the next month but they didn't offer any kind of a "we're sorry for our mistake" credit which they should have done. Also one weekend the Sprint wireless web was completely down. After dealing with inept customer service people who couldn't transfer me to their OWN technical support, and ignorant store people who didn't have any idea about what was going on, I finally talked to a technical support guy after dialing the tech support number MYSELF who said the Sprint wireless web network was down nationwide. Why didn't anyone else in their company know that? Anyway, Sprint is much better than AT&T TDMA was. I had AT&T for one year and never ever had a clear call. No wonder AT&T sold their wireless service to Cingular which dropped the "AT&T Wireless" name. They were really horrible.

I seem to have no problems in and around Awstin or wherever else I go with my V220. But I'd never use one of htese as primary communication device. That's what SBC is for. (Same for VoIP, secondary use only). Generally, I do have areas where the Cingular service is encountering high BER, but then move five inches and it's better. The analog phones worked much better, but their battery life was awful. Trade offs. I also carry a Blackberry on T-Mobile. Audio quality is better, coverage is similar, but in places where one does not work, the other one might. For what they are, and what they cost, considering the facilities limits of practicality, they are all pretty ok. But I think that if you ask any one of their network engineers, they'll say that these systems were never intended to replace landlines, and not really engineered for hand held devices. I do know that their marketing people will spew a different set of facts (usual marketing lies)

Once I enter a building / home my reception is awful with dropped calls, and poor voice reception. Reception picks up traveling south on Hwy 183 but is still poor till you hit Mopac exit off Hwy 183.
