Reception Ratings-- Indoors: 0 to 1 Outdoors: 3 Customer Service: Very good T-Mobile reception was great in New York City. I work in Irvine (Las Colinas): Dead zone indoors. In my home near Campbell and Hillcrest in Dallas: ditto. 3 different phones had the same experience in my home.
Phone shows 2-3 bars until you dial then it drops to 1-2 bars and you better make it quick, because you WILL lose the call in a couple minures or less.
I had T-Mobile and switched to At&T because of the Iphone... . my reception is really bad and I have dropped calls all the time. This is the worst service I have ever had.
I drive from Park Cities to Addison everyday to and from work. I always have 4 full bars, and my data connection stays on 100% of the time. I NEVER have had a dropped call, not even once since I joined verison 5 years ago. I use my phone about 2 hours a day, and still have yet to see my phone say "1X" or have less than 3 bars. I have unlimited data plan, so I always have my messenger program running, and it never logs out, or misses any messages. this is the best phone / service I have ever had.
Phone is reliable, but sometimes have dropped calls or calls that go directly to message without ringing... as I am holding the phone waiting for a call back, which is irritating. Phone has been fine. BUT... A pc data card with Sprint - I don't recommend it! It's been a great disappointment. Unable to correct the problem of slow variable connections with their advanced technical service agents. Pantech PX-500 The first year was fine with good connections and speed. This second year has been horrible with speeds of 55kbs - slower than dialup varying up to the promised 700kbs or better. This fluxuation happens every few days... .worse after a storm, and then it is unusable for days. I've had three service tickets on it since March 2008. They tell me it's fixed and cancel them... but the problem isn't fixed. Finally I had the card checked out just to eliminate it being the cause... and it was fine. Something is wrong with the tower-evidently in DeSoto (?). I was able to cancel the contract early without charge only because Sprint changed the contract to limit date to 5GB instead of unlimited. My theory is with more people having internet on their phones, Sprint's system of towers haven't been able to keep up with demand.
I've been with Sprint for a number of years now, and have had relatively few problems with both phones and service right up until buying a Samsung A640, which a Sprint rep described to me as an amazing phone that has plenty of good and helpful attributes / capacities, one of which was its quality of connectivity. At this point, I want to buy a gun and just go to town on this phone. It drops about 9 out of every 10 calls, and gets absolutely zero reception in my office in my house, where a huge majority of my calls are made - frustruates the hell out of me. Each time I receive a call in my office (if it's actually received and my phone rings!), I end up out in the street wandering around in an attempt to keep up with the signal, but it usually ends up with me having to call the person back 5-6 times (or me using my land line instead) each conversation because the call is dropped so freakin' consistently, even when the phone indicates anywhere from 2-5 bars. Also, if I start a call with the phone showing any connectivity, it seems like as soon as I connect, all the bars just disappear for no reason, even though I nor the phone have changed position / location. I guess I'll just stretch out my throwing arm because the Sprint store where I bought the phone is within throwing distance. The worst thing was when Sprint told me to give them a call every time a call was dropped so my account wasn't charged for the call; problem is is that I can't even call them without the call being dropped!
