This location is not to bad, on top floor of a two story apartment complex and when I had GSM service it was real bad. My new phone CU500 uses 3G and this seems to work much better.
In my apartment complex, I get 0 bars. My phone is worthless on the T-Mobile or Cingular network here, so I'm having to completely change my own and my wife's cell plans to compensate. It's almost a complete dead zone for T-Mobile at home; even with a better phone.
I've had practically NO service from Sprint in this area... until I bought another phone through their upgrade program. What a difference! Now I have consistent service with a minimum of 4 bars! But I have to believe that Sprint finally placed another antenna in the North Oak Cliff area and that's why service has improved greatly around here. Actually, this phone rocks! I travel a lot and seldom find myself without a signal. I also have a Cingular phone that I have no trouble getting a full 5 bars out of here in the Kessler Park area. I was told by a friend that the quality of the phones makes all the difference in being able to capture and hold a signal. I believe that is true. The Samsung phones are generally quite reliable. Stay away from Sanyo and Sony / Erikkson and certainly run from Motorola! I tried the Nextel network this past summer and it sucks the big one SO BAD that it's practically worthless. I couldn't get ANY signal here in the N. Oak Cliff area AT ALL! Motorola / Nextel puts out some very expensive phones that are absolutely junk! And I had a very expensive model!
Verizon used to have good service in this area but coverage has severely degraded sometime between July-August 2006. Outdoor coverage is below average and indoor coverage is hard to come by!
