It'll work throughout Horizon City but, won't hold the call that long. Other than that, it's fine.

I have had ATT for at least 4-5 years and I have UVerse and the Wireless plans. The wireless is awful, I have to call from my home at least 2-3 times before the call goes through. Att's answer was to get a land like and charge me $55. The also suggested a Cell phone booster that cost $100 and said I would get a $50 rebate, which I did not. I am trying to find a wireless service that will work both in EP and Ruidoso.

I've had AT&T for a little less than a year and I have had no major problems. There are very few spots where I have trouble using my phone but I rarely go to those areas so it isn't much of a problem. overall I would say AT&T is very good in El Paso and would recommend it for most people.

I've had AT&T for a couple of months now and I have to say that I am overall very pleased with the service. I came from Verizon after 3 years with them. Verizon was literally perfection. Their 3G speeds were good and everywhere I went, rural or major city, the coverage was unbeatable. My family and I frequently go camping. We go to very rural parts of New Mexico and we always had excellent Verizon coverage. I have not had the opportunity to travel to these places with AT&T but according to their coverage map, those places are under "partner" This shouldn't be a problem since we do not use our phones that much when we are in those areas in the first place. I, myself, do not use data very much. My aunt and uncle have iPhone 4's and are constantly using data. They are flight attendants and travel all over the U.S. everyday. From their experiences, AT&T has been equal to Verizon. Occasionally they travel to areas where 3G is not available and must rely on EDGE. For the most part they remain in areas covered by 3G and say that it is slightly faster than Verizon. At their home which is known to be a huge dead zone for ALL carriers, they receive 1-2 bars. They claim to have no difficulties in making calls and say that the 3G speeds are fine. At my home I receive 3-4 bars. Calls sound fine and when I use the data it is speedy. I do, however, have one area where I have trouble with my service. I go to Cathedral High School. This school is in a very old building (88 years old) where the walls are 3 feet thick. On the second floor, my AT&T phone has 0-1 bar and very frequently will switch to Movistar or TELCEL (Mexican service providers) I have borrowed students phones and they seem to have similar signals, except Verizon. T-Mobile has 1-2 bars, Sprint has 0 bars, and Verizon has 5 bars. In conclusion, AT&T has been very good. We are paying $200 less for similar service that Verizon provides. Anyone looking into switching to AT&T in El Paso, TX should go with either Verizon or at&t. Of course, depending where you live is a major factor in El Paso. Anyone living near the mountain WILL have problems with their service. All carriers do not cover the area near the mountains very well and you will absolutely have problems with your phone. The only company that may not have as many problems will be Verizon. If you live anywhere else in El Paso you are covered pretty well.

I recently switched to AT&T after being with Verizon for 4 years. In El Paso, both AT&T and Verizon's network is quite good. For the most part, Verizon gets a full signal (outdoors, as well as many places indoors) Of course with every carrier there is a few spots where the service isn't so great, but hey, you can't always win. At my home, Verizon receives an average of 4-5 bars and always clear calls. With AT&T I receive 3-4 bars and calls are clear as well. In addition to Verizon and AT&T my brother has T-Mobile and my mom has Sprint. So I have a pretty much can test every major carrier. At my house, Sprint has 1-3 bars with adequate sound quality and T-Mobile always has 5 but I have noticed that at time sound quality is very bad. Now I have experience my AT&T phone switching over to Mexican service (Movistar, TELCEL) This mostly happens at my school which is very close to the Mexican border. Oddly, this has happened to my Verizon phone as well. I have not yet traveled enough to give my opinion on AT&T, but from what I can see if El Paso, AT&T is just as good as Verizon. I have had no dropped calls, no "No Service" areas. There have been areas of low signal but that has not affected call quality or reliability. In conclusion I give AT&T a 4.5 and I give Verizon a 4.5

79932 / 79922 are two of El Paso's highest income zip codes and ATT reception is very bad in this area. I "mark the spot" in ATT app and it shows the antennae location as near Sunland Park Mall. Towers are not compensating for geography (valleys etc). I like my Iphone but dont think I should buy a femtocell in order to get the service I have already contracted for.

Cell tower on top of the mountain and of course signal goes right over entire neighborhoods and schools. Technician for U-Verse at our house (who couldn't use his AT&T cell phone either) said that they could easily drop the signal location a couple degrees and then voila. Coould it be that easy? AT&T, get your crap together!

AT&T service in this area is flat out inadequate. Dropped calls are the norm for me. I end up having to call AT&T constantly to remove "roaming" charges from the Mexican Movistar service which constantly hits my phone. I've been with AT&T for years but am switching. On a scale of 1-to-10 in call continuity and reception, the best I can get on AT&T at any given time is a 3. The norm is more a "1" and I have to keep moving around my house to hear my calls.

In the military, I've traveled all over the US and signal has been fine with AT&T until I got to El Paso. No signal at work and no signal at home. What is it good for?

I'm so frustrated with border town reception, it's stupid! My phone randomly jumps from TELCEL to ATT service. My wife's T-Mobile G1 and my T-Mobile iPhone work fine in this area. They really need to invest in more towers out here.

From PHX to ELP on I-10 we can always make or receive calls. Once in ELP we stay out in Montana Vista and travel through Horizon City to Fabens alot and have no issues with our service. We usually have to lend out our phones for those that cant get service out in Fabens or by Cattlemans. We live in PHX and the service always rocks here too.

I had Cingular for over a year and in El Paso, it just flat out sucks. The phone roams over to Mexico carriers and you get charged with the roaming charges. I asked Cingular to take roaming off my phone(s) and they said it couldn't be done. So I was charged around $10 more each month just because I wanted to answer my phone calls.

I have had Cingular for over a year now, and I hate their reception. I get a lot of dropped calls, my service jumps back and forth from Juarez cell phone providers (Telcel, Movistar and a weird 334-03) so I cant make / receive calls, and if I do I am roaming. I am sick and tired of this, and all of what Cingular tells me is that there is nothing they can do about it. I pay a good amount of money for my plan (which sucks since I rarely have service). If you keep encountering problems with whoever you have service, file a complaint with the FCC. I just filed mine, I mean you have to do whatever it is so you can get your moneys worth, and if they dont listen someone will. I am curious about trying Ampd or Helio does anyone know anything about their service? Thanks

I have had Cingular for years and I have always had great reception. I moved here 4 years ago and I am constantly on roam, I still have my New Orleans number. It does not matter what side of the mountain I am on, or anywhere within the mountain. I used to have reception problems in Wal Mart on the grocery side of the store with my old Nokia, but no problems with the Razr. I have even been way up in the Arkansas mountains and I had reception, but no one else did with other service providers. I wouldn't trade Cingular for anything.

I've had Cingular for a long time now, its great just about everywhere in the country. But this spot on the west side seems to be a black hole for cell coverage. My signal jumps between nothing and bars in my apartment and is worse outside my apartment.
