For the longest time, only T-Mobile had a reliable signal, but regardless, I still prefer T-Mobile over the other ones. Sprint users shouldn't even bother, even though they claim to have "mammoth coverage in El Paso," and AT&T has to roam off of T-Mobile. Furthermore, while Verizon finally got coverage here, it's still not that great, and I much prefer being able to roam internationally without having to having a specific "World Edition" phone, and plus being able to switch phones easily with just a switch of a SIM card is invaluable. Go T-Mobile!

From PHX to ELP on I-10 we can always make or receive calls. Once in ELP we stay out in Montana Vista and travel through Horizon City to Fabens alot and have no issues with our service. We usually have to lend out our phones for those that cant get service out in Fabens or by Cattlemans. We live in PHX and the service always rocks here too.

Everywhere, El Paso, TX 79904 Sun May 04, 2008

I've been on every network except AT&T and Verizon has been the best by far. There are only 2 drop spots in el paso by UTEP and in the middle of transmountain. Otherwise I've had nothing but excellent customer service. The reception and data service with the blackberry is awesome. The evdo network for data service is by far the fastest and to tether the phone like a modem is just as fast for me as roadrunnner internet service. I used to be on Sprint and my father on Verizon and we rode our motorcycles all the way up to sturgis south Dakota. I had reception up until Denver on Sprint and my father had reception on Verizon all the way up and back to include in the forests of south Dakota and at mt. Rushmore. As far as call reception with the pearl its awesome and I don't recall having dropped any calls with Verizon except in the aforementioned 2 dead spots in el paso but I had that problem with Sprint and my wife had the same problem with cricket before we both went to verizon. I get service in the back roads of old mesilla on the motorcycle and even in the trees of stahmanns pecan ranch. I can't say enough about the data service and speed of the internet. The blackberry was built for emails and I get them at lightning speed even faster than I get them on the server at work. We recently got some demo phones for work from AT&T and the days transfer isn't anywhere near the speed of verizons evdo network. I love cell phones and I get a new one every couple of months and the blackberry by far has been the best in reception and data. I had a Motorola q a palm treo with Sprint and a lot of other older phones. I'm deaf practically and I need a phone I can really hear. The blackberry for me is loud enough and the volume isn't even on high. When the blackberry curve comes out I'm going to get it because my wife loves the pearl I use curently and she can't stand her complicated Motorola q. I guess I rushed too much to get her that one and now she can't stand it so hopefully I can win back favor in giving her the pearl once the curve comes out. I hope my review was a little helpful and not drawn out too long.

Cathedral High School, El Paso, TX 79905 Wed Apr 09, 2008

I go to Cathedral High School and have Verizon. In the School, which is an old school which means extremely thick walls, there is a gym that is partially underground, my phone can receive 5 bars yet a Sprint phone gets 1- no service, T-Mobile gets no service, Alltel 2-3, and Cingular no service, cricket no service. I laugh as I see teachers and students walking around trying to get a signal while I talk away on mine with no worries of a droped call.

excellent. Verizon is perfect here. it is a VERY BIG DEAD spot for cell phones. Sprint- 0 bars, t-mobile- 1-2 bars, alltel, 1 bar, Cingular ( AT&T) 2-3 bar, Verizon- 5 BARS! but its weird I used to have the same exact phone and my aunt had 5 bars but mine would mostly show 4 but since I got the razr it always shows 4 bars which is the maximum. love Verizon

Mesilla, NM, El Paso, TX 79905 Mon Jul 16, 2007

I recently went to Mesilla, NM and I brought my old but new Sprint phone ( which I canceled) and my new Verizon phone. the difference was like night and day. in areas where there are many trees on both sides of the roads ( pecan farms) my Sprint would have 0 bars ( still had a signal) or read " SEARCHING" while my Verizon phone sat comfortably on 2 bars and had clear calls and no dropped calls. At Stahmanns a store where they sell goodies ( the store was where the road had MANY trees and the trees where around the store) my Sprint phone read " searching" while my Verizon had 3 bars and again had clear call qualtiy and no dropped calls. Inside the building I had 1-2 bars but still the same great quality. At Mesilla my Verizon phone had 4-5 bars depending where you were in this small town. my Sprint phone had 1-2 bars outside and usually 0-1 inside. and the Verizon phone had 3-4 bars inside stores. Also at a Nursery ( plants) my Verizon phone had 3-4 bars ( still in the road of trees) and my Sprint had 1 the Sprint voice quality was very garbeld ( I can call but it gives me a I need to activate but I can still see the call quality) ALL and ALL Verizon did so much better than sprint. and my my hometown of El Paso Verizon ALWAYS 5 bars and Sprint usually 1,2,3,4,5 the reason why I did all of those is becuase it is that spotty u could be driving and 5 bars for 5 minutes then 3 or 4 or 2 then 5 minutes later 4 or 5 fluctuates a lot.

I have the old Samsung R2225 that came free with the service 6 years ago. The only problem I have is going over the mountain on Transmountain, but I hear everyone does. It works pretty good everywhere I go... Arizona, New Mexico, Juarez. I was even down deep in the jungles of Michoacan Mexico once, and I could not believe it... the phone rang! Startled, I answered it. It was the wrong number. :) Just this past week I was at La Feria in Juarez, and it worked fine there, display showed it was T-Mobile service...

There is absolutely no service once you pass Montana and Desert Meadows. That sucks for me but if you live in the city there's no problem.(except that the phones aren't all that) One really cool thing is that the reception in Juarez is usually pretty good, for those who go often.

I've had Sprint for 5 years and I have been frustrated with it for 5 years. I get dropped calls, poor or no reception while other people are comfortably talking on their cell phones, and sometimes I have to call a number twice because the first time around it doesn't ring (but apparently the person I'm calling still gets a call--so that I'll hang up on someone saying "hello?" because I don't hear a thing). Anyways, I don't like Sprint, it's exprensive, and customer service sucks big-time (it's like they hire gorillas with a frontal lobotomy to talk to you for 30 seconds before they put you on hold again for another 10 minutes. Oh yeah, and sometimes they ask you to call on your cell phone so those minutes are subtracted from your monthly plan). Try at your own risk.

I had Cingular for over a year and in El Paso, it just flat out sucks. The phone roams over to Mexico carriers and you get charged with the roaming charges. I asked Cingular to take roaming off my phone(s) and they said it couldn't be done. So I was charged around $10 more each month just because I wanted to answer my phone calls.

With Sprint, at home, I get either 0 or 1 bar; about half the time, no service at home. Also, no service in the hospital at 1625 Medical Center in central El Paso 79902. Mostly decent service elsewhere on the westside, except frequently calls diverted to phone mail even when phone is on, what's that? I am definitely looking for a better mobile service.

I have had Cingular for over a year now, and I hate their reception. I get a lot of dropped calls, my service jumps back and forth from Juarez cell phone providers (Telcel, Movistar and a weird 334-03) so I cant make / receive calls, and if I do I am roaming. I am sick and tired of this, and all of what Cingular tells me is that there is nothing they can do about it. I pay a good amount of money for my plan (which sucks since I rarely have service). If you keep encountering problems with whoever you have service, file a complaint with the FCC. I just filed mine, I mean you have to do whatever it is so you can get your moneys worth, and if they dont listen someone will. I am curious about trying Ampd or Helio does anyone know anything about their service? Thanks
