I can actually look out of my office window and see a tower less than 1000 ft away, but still can't use this phone in the area. I would say the reception would be in between "No Reception" and "Poor". I can call out and receive calls, but only about 5% quality. I have called cingular, but they don't really care. I think GSM has less coverage / quality than my old TDMA.

Verizon has great reception on the UH campus. I get service in every building including the library which is known as a dead zone as far as cell phones are concerned. In fact now that I think about I've never roamed with Verizon, the service is that good.

Great reception pretty much every where in town and most places in Southeast, East, and Central Texas. Often better than friends Verizon Wireless phones.

I'm switching carriers because I never get a signal in this area where I live. I've also heard that it rates lowest in the Houston area.

Receptions been very good for me in this part of town and just about everywhere I seem to go. I'm starting to think that maybe the cell phone is exceptional. When I had a Nokia with ATTWS, I had signal trouble consistently, but with the T-637 on Cingular it's been suprisingly great.
