I receive and send calls frequently in this area and get very good reception. I understand Sprint is adding another tower very soon as well.

Studewood / Heights / Studewood, Houston, TX 77009 Sat Apr 21, 2007

When I had Cingular, I could never get calls inside my house. Finally, they said that the towers out here in the Heights were not adequate. There was a dispute over a tower at 11th and Studewood some years ago. It is covered with a facade. So nobody wants to put adequate towers in this historical district. I explained this to Cingular and got out of my contract. I went with Verizon and have had no problem since. Evidentially their technology is better or something.

T-Mobile added a site in this area and my coverage improved greatly. The Waste Management land fill on fairbanks impacts coverage for most carriers because the land fill is so high.

Although Virgin (had) a great prepaid deal (their rates have changed, although I'm still under the old plan), the reception is non-existent at home. Being that we're not all that far from I-45, I was surprised. I've also had a problem in certain commercial buildings in the Galleria area which is another place you'd expect good service. (I've noticed they don't offer a map showing their coverage area.) If you're on the road, especially major roads or freeways, there's no problems. Even though I will probably pay somewhat more, I'll probably be switching to another prepaid service so I can use it at home and because Virgin apparently doesn't offer free minutes with others on their plan.

Inside my house, I never get more than 2 out of 5 bars. A lot of times, I cannot get a call to go out, and calls never last more than 10-15 minutes before they are dropped. T-Mobile has got to improve its coverage in this developing neighborhood.

I had Sprint initially and I couldn't use my phone inside my home. I work at a hospital and I always have "No Signal" on my display. I know it's not the hospital because other c-workers and doctors use thier phones in the halls and even elevators and get reception. So I changed to Nextel because my brother had it. Well, same thing. Soon after, they merged with Sprint and it got worse. They told me I needed to buy a more expensive phone to get better reception. What kinda crock is that??

UofH Satellite MD Anderson Library / Satellite,MD Anderson Library, Inside Buildings, Houston, TX 77004 Thu Feb 22, 2007

Overall I believe Verizon has the best network especially at the University of Houston0-main. You know the satellite, underground dining, where most of my friends have no signal (yes ironic name) but I at most 2 bars, which is better than their 0bars. Even in classrooms like the fleming building or the Science Engineering and Research classrooms I get signal. And last but not least, the MD Anderson Library. I get signal in the computer lab. It does at times go in and out, but hey I am getting signal and not T-Mobile or cingular. or Sprint ha ha poor sprint. Not sure about cricket though. I just wish verizon's plans werent so expensive, but hey for signal pretty much anywhere is a good trade off. You get what you pay for.

Sprint has more dropped calls in major Metro areas like Houston. All of the Sprint phones I have had have poor reception and can not hold a call in my home. As soon as my contract is up BYE, BYE, SPRINT!

Horrible Reception in Townhome (likely interference from steel structure or something like that). Sprint service seems very patchy to me in Houston. Especially in Spring, TX (North of Houston). The medical center gets good reception, of course. I've been with them too long and am going to try Cingular or Verizon.

I've had perfect reception in the Bellaire / Meyerland area for years. Verizon unquestionably has the best reception in Houston. I've been with Verizon for over 8 years now and have never had any major problems, other than the occasional billing quibble which was ultimately my fault. I've tried Cingular and Sprint through my job (they give all employees a cell). Sprint dropped ~10% of my calls in Houston when driving around, especially in the Downtown area. Cingular dropped ~15% of my calls, and had horrible reception from my Meyerland home. If you want great reception in Houston, I recommend Verizon.

Works ok (at best) throughout Clear Lake and Houston, just not in our neighborhood, Bay Glen. Why do we need roll over minutes when we can't use the service at home where most of the "long" calls are needed? We have 500 mins on family plan with two phones. We roll over at least 300 every month. What a rip.

I've been with Sprint for 8 years and I'm appalled at how much the service - both reception and customer - has deteriorated. I travel on business across the U. S. and my phone keeps dropping calls. It doesn't matter which state I'm in. I went into the store on Westheimer and Dunvale to purchase a new phone on the off-chance that the problem lies within my handset. It took the service rep guy 45 minutes to program my new phone, and when he was finished, he had programed the wrong phone line onto my phone. That's an honest mistake, and easily corrected, right? Wrong! It took him 4 hours to find out how to fix the problem and he had to call the *2 customer line for assistance. Then the manager tells him not to do what the *2 customer rep told him to do because that would mess up store inventory. The manager then says he'll fix it. This is after 4 hours! of sitting right next to the poor guy and watching him struggle to reprogram the phone, and watching me wait. When I told the manager I thought it was ridiculous that it took him 4 hours to step in and help, that this was the last straw ontop of months of horrible service, and that Sprint was about to lose my business. He said "I don't care". People, that about sums up Sprint right now - They don't care!
