T-Mobile
T-mobile sold their towers to Crown Castle so they arent liable for signal issues. When you are a new customer your signal is great and then they throttle you down after some time has gone by. My opinion is that they did something to their network around the time that they were about to make the biggest mistake the company could make and thats teaming up with AT&T. I know that alot of you would agree. I have experience in cell towers and how they operate so thats why I have contacted some of my connections with the FCC and some tested will be mandated on every tower that they claim to have.

AT&T
I always have signal, inside and outside, and the Internet speed is super fast! We don't have a home phone so we use our cell phones and never drop calls.

Sprint
This comment is to amend the previous statement made on 11.18.2012. I have been a Sprint subscriber since 2004. I have had voice and air card service that entire time. The service has been flawless. I have never had an issue with reception on either service (although I did wish for faster transmit rates on the airless card). My true disappointment is with the lack of 4G service in my area when I was lead to believe it was available.

T-Mobile
Excellent Tech support (Thanks Tom) and customer service. My I-Phone 4 (officially unlocked - $1000 from UK - I just hate contracts) works great except the Data channels for 3G / 4G not compatible with T-Mobile. I only get 2G service for Data speeds. It should be OK for everyone if they merge with AT&T (not less than 1 year).

Verizon
I've had all the big carriers... .AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Nextel. Nothing measures up to Verizon. Even in elevators in the Williams Towers, my services is flawless. You get what you pay for, and coming from AT&T, thats horrible service in the Houston Area.

T-Mobile
I have had pretty good luck with my T-Mobile G1 for over a year now. Signal is nearly always strong and clear. Occasional Data issues, but I expect every service to have a few hiccups. Customer Service has always been very good as well.

T-Mobile
When I had Verizon I would lose service near the most interior walls. Now that I'm with T-Mobile (for 2yrs.) I get full bars in and out. You should never have to step outside you home to talk on your cell.

T-Mobile
Excellent and consistent coverage indoors and out all over Houston (except at the 610 / Memorial Drive / RR tracks intersection by Memorial Park, where nobody I know of gets reception) as well as in Boston, New York City, Montreal, Seattle, Miami and their broad environs. Even works seamlessly in elevators. Only reception problems are in deep interiors of buildings built heavily of concrete. However, have had problems with customer service overseas and with handsets evidently designed to break down four months before the end of 2-year contracts.

T-Mobile
Reception is never a problem inside or outside of my office building / parking garage... I can even continue a phone call while riding the elevators, without any dead pockets. People are always astonished and ask me quite frequently who my carrier is.

T-Mobile
Never anything less than 100% service with T-Mobile, for 18 mos. running. Phones have worked without fail everywhere in the Houston area, Austin area, and down the coast to Corpus. Big improvement over Cingular's unpredictable service.

Sprint
Since Sprint upgraded the tower near Cy Fair College around February of 2007 service has been great. Also, speeds with the data card are awesome.

Sprint
I receive and send calls frequently in this area and get very good reception. I understand Sprint is adding another tower very soon as well.

Verizon
When I had Cingular, I could never get calls inside my house. Finally, they said that the towers out here in the Heights were not adequate. There was a dispute over a tower at 11th and Studewood some years ago. It is covered with a facade. So nobody wants to put adequate towers in this historical district. I explained this to Cingular and got out of my contract. I went with Verizon and have had no problem since. Evidentially their technology is better or something.

Verizon
Overall I believe Verizon has the best network especially at the University of Houston0-main. You know the satellite, underground dining, where most of my friends have no signal (yes ironic name) but I at most 2 bars, which is better than their 0bars. Even in classrooms like the fleming building or the Science Engineering and Research classrooms I get signal. And last but not least, the MD Anderson Library. I get signal in the computer lab. It does at times go in and out, but hey I am getting signal and not T-Mobile or cingular. or Sprint ha ha poor sprint. Not sure about cricket though. I just wish verizon's plans werent so expensive, but hey for signal pretty much anywhere is a good trade off. You get what you pay for.

Ive never had a dropeed call with Sprint in this area, and I have been living here for about a year now. Shame they dont have cool phones like cingular, but I believe Sprint is the best for the houston area !

Verizon
I've had perfect reception in the Bellaire / Meyerland area for years. Verizon unquestionably has the best reception in Houston. I've been with Verizon for over 8 years now and have never had any major problems, other than the occasional billing quibble which was ultimately my fault. I've tried Cingular and Sprint through my job (they give all employees a cell). Sprint dropped ~10% of my calls in Houston when driving around, especially in the Downtown area. Cingular dropped ~15% of my calls, and had horrible reception from my Meyerland home. If you want great reception in Houston, I recommend Verizon.

T-Mobile
I get 5 bars reception in my house but I got 0 bar inside the downtown tunnel or inside IAH Terminal C building. First, I thought tunnel is underground blocks the signal. But I could see other people talking on their cell when I lost my signal. It is the same 0 bar signal inside the IAH C building for my phone as well as my son's, Nokia 6101 until I get into the walkway to Terminal D or E to get signal back. But I saw other people talking into the building without any problem. Why?

Verizon
While i'm not sure if Verizon has the best plans... .I really can't complain about anything. The most impressive thing was that I never lost reception during Alison or ANY of our storms last year. I have reception in places I'm told others don't and have been way out in the back roads on my motorcycle and have gotten reception. I do have an occasional dropped call. While i'm thinking of looking at other companies, what I'm reading here may change that.

T-Mobile
I use my cell phone mainly in the northwest Housotn area. I've had little or no trouble from The Woodlands to Pasadena, from Hempstead to Southwest Houston. I'm surprised to read the less than satisfactory experience T-Mobil users are having. I couldn't be happier however all I use it for is making and receiving calls. My boss has a more expensive model and seems to have problems quite often. I didn't think the phone make or model would make that much difference, but reading these and other revirews for T-Mobile, I am beginning to beleive the phone make and model can make a big difference.
