Phone service is adequate but data speeds are awful. 3G has rarely exceeded 200kpbs and 4g (on my previous EVO) was notoriously difficult to get a signal with. Location is in the office complexes along 635 between beltline and freeport in the Irving / Coppell area.

To begin, I am a college student and I am lucky to get a single bar of signal when in any of the buildings. Unfortunately, I spend most of my time inside the various buildings on campus so I'm not too enthralled about the situation. Calling is nigh impossible, and texting is notoriously slow on campus. However, I will say that service becomes tolerable when outside. Furthermore, service is quite good at my home in Irving. My colleagues tell me that ATT and T-Mobile are quite reliable inside campus buildings, so I may be forced to switch providers.

Poor signal. I don't go inside to talk or I will lose the call. I'm south of DFW where the new GB tollway hits 183. At least this will eliminate folks talking on their Sprint phones while driving

Always drop the signal on I-635 approaching the exit for the new 161 (GB TP). This is the only place in the metro I drop calls.

I get near perfect reception anywhere I go, I've had Sprint for the past 5 years, and never had any huge problems with reception. The coverage in Dallas is excellent, as well as the coverage in Austin. I've been all over, and I couldn't be happier with the signal. I personally believe that Sprint is the best in TX.

Phone Model:
Sanyo MM-7400
Las Brisas Hills Condos / Walnut Hill and Las Brisas, Irving, TX 75038 Fri Jan 07, 2005

New phone with 2-3 bars indoors. Outside reception 2 to an occasional 4 bars. My old phone a Sanyo SCP - 5300 had an almost constant 4 bars even indoors. I compared reception of my existing phone with another MM-7400 and the newer version of the old phone VM-4500 (SCP-5500) and the results were similar. The 7400 indicated 2-3 bars, while the 5500 indicated a strong 4 bars. Call quality on the new phone however, seems to be as good as before inspite of the indicate fewer number of bars. I've been unable to find out from anyone from sprint if the new phone is more sensitive and indicating more true signal strength or the "other" phones (5300 & 5500) are indicating a false stronger signal. Not sure if either is the case, but lack of some technical expertise from sprint can only lead to speculation. One thing I did with both phones was to request an update (PRL Update) that's not mentioned very much, but it's an update in which the carrier updates the phone so that it can utilize the most current info regarding cell phone tower locations. The idea is that as new towers are added to new areas, phones may not automatically recognize this resulting in continued poor signals or dropped calls in certain areas. I recommend calling tech support to make sure that your phone has the most current available update if experiencing major problems.
