I was with Alltel and the reception rating was a 3. Now that Verizon has assimilated Alltel, reception has greatly improved.

Round Mountain / Between Marble Falls and Johnson City on Hwy. 281, Johnson City, TX 78636 |

I ALWAYS drop calls on my commute between Marble falls and Johnson City. There is too much separation between towers. When my call switches from one tower to the other, dropped call. The only exception is when I'm driving through Round Mountain. They must have installed a wireless repeater for the "City Of Round Mountain" because that's the only place I get good coverage and there is no tower nearby.

I was recently in Johnson City and all that I got was analog signal... what century are we living in? Analog signal besides having very bad voice quality doesn't allow you to send text messages or get voicemail notifications. I wouldn't recommend Verizon for anyone living in rural Texas, particularly just outside of San Antonio.
