I've switched to ATT five years ago. I've never had a problem with reception. I don't use my cell for all sorts of other things just talking... after all it is a phone and that is what you do on a phone. I've had to switch phones form ATT as some of them just have poor reception, but once the phone was replaced I've had no problems.

3g network coverage is fairly small, and sometimes it's on it or it downgrades to the slower Edge speed. You don't often find yourself without bars but it gets border line sometimes.

I get decent reception around the Killeen area, but there are some spotty areas around Ft. Hood. But with no raoming charges, I can use any network free of charge.

I've had T-Mobile my whole life and never had a problem with their outstanding customer support and reception, then I came to Fort Hood.. The reception out here is HORRIBLE for T-mobile.. I could be standing outside in on a clear day and have ZERO bars.. I've never in my life have been more ticked and sick of a cell phone company.. I talked to a T-Mobile representative at our local PX, and he even admitted that he makes sure to let ALL of his customers know NOT to go with T-mobile, even if they are only going to be in the barracks. (BTW barracks.. it's WORSE) All in all T-Mobile in the Fort Hood / Killeen Area deserves a 1 / 10. It's THAT sad.. really is.. Hate to say it.. but go with AT&T or Verizon.

LOTS of dead zones on Fort Hood. Even where you have a full-strength signal, watch out! Despite having and using the "Sprint PCS Only" setting on my phone, it will still roam onto Alltel's network without any warning. Sprint customer service "professionals" refused to believe that this was possible (let alone that it happened three times) and then a supervisor named Diane had the gall to accuse me of pulling a scam when I told them about this, leaving me to pay over $50 in roaming charges for calls made while my phone indicated it was using a Sprint PCS signal. I somehow doubt I'm the only one this has happened to.

Throughout Fort Hood and Killeen in general, there are several "dead spots" that make reception very intermittent. Don't bother signing a contract with Cingular for this area... go with one of the other companies. 15 Aug 2005
