We work on the railroad and seems to be the only phone that works, you look at coverage maps and you will see that most carriers claim best reception out there and it is far from it. AT&T though seems to be the preferred carrier all the other ones leave you wondering if you miss a call. Sprint is the worst of them all, followed closely by Verizon

The reception in my area is really bad :( But in the rest of the city it is really good I want AT&T to make another tower in north west Laredo cuz it sucks when you live by the river :S

I must say that I get great reception from AT&T here in Laredo, TX. There is just one complaint I have. They need to make another tower closer to west Laredo because the signal does drop and in rare cases you get signal from Mexican Carriers such as Movistar or Telcel. But all in all The reception in laredo from AT&T is the best

I have had great reception with both phones I've had on the Sprint network (a flip phone and my new HTC Hero). On Hwy. 59, with the exception of a 3-mile stretch outside of Freer (southbound) and a 10-15 mile stretch between Freer and San Diego, reception is great. However, there was no signal west of Laredo except directly inside city limits of the small towns (like Carrizo Springs) and no signal in some of those towns. Sprint needs more towers covering the back roads.

If you ever in Laredo, TX do not use a Cingular phone next to the border or at the college. The Mexican cell antennas take over the phone and if you answer a call it is an outragous amount to pay. I have Cingular and for answering a phone call I get charged $5 dollars a minute. So watch out. I am looking forward to changing with Verizon, I have heard good things about them.

TAMIU seems to be on the fringe area. There is no signal at all inside most university buildings. In others, you can pick up a signal if you walk be a west or north window. Even when the signal meter shows full strength, calls are suddenly dropped. My Cingular friends get full signal inside all buildings and even inside elevators, leaving me staring in envy. I've tried two other Sprint phones in the area, but same result, leaving me to conclude that it's not the phone, but the lack of service.

Mexico has a ton of analog signals spilling over the border and causing dropped calls for my buddies with Cingular, Nextel and T-Mobile phones. These phone models range giving proof that it is the signal from those companies not the phones. I, too, have a Nextel (not by choice) and I can loose service inside a resturaunt. Unlike Verizon, I have been to Mexico and back without dropping a call. I get great signal and reception. Although my phone is a tri-mode, I received good reception when I had an all Digital i700 pocket pc. The service and quality gets better and better everyday. I also have a Novatel V620 Air Card and I've never had a problem. I rate it good, because nothing ever perfect.
