Verizon owns Alltel's network in this area. I have never had any problems with Verizon anywhere in town. Very strong signal in most parts of town. No dropped calls ever. Coverage of Grape Creek has improved.

Verizon now owns Alltel's network in this area. Alltel was very good. Signal is still strong in many parts of town. Very pleased with the service provided.

Very good coverage all over town. Usually have 5-6 bars in town. Alltel has EVDO coverage in town. Overall, I am very satisfied with Alltel service in San Angelo. Signal needs to be stronger in the Grape Creek area outside of town.

Coverage is excellent all over town. Dropped calls are extremely rare. Network has EVDO coverage in this area. Overall, I have no complaints with the service that Alltel provides for San Angelo.

Verizon's 3g network is just too slow for videos. They need to hurry up and turn on LTE in a town of nearly 100,000 people. Smaller towns across the nation are getting 4g before us which does not make any sense. They are dragging their feet in their rollout in this part of Texas. Other big towns such as Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland / Odessa, and Abilene also do not have 4g. So... Hurry up Verizon!

The network is really good, but not excellent as far as overall signal strength. I have never had any drop calls anywhere in town, even in areas with only one bar. No problems sending and receiving text messages. If you want a better picture regarding signal strength, check out the "Rootmetrics" website. You can get an idea on signal strength and coverage using real-world data. Overall, verizon's network is extremely hard to beat. Network should be upgraded to LTE sometime in the near future, so data speeds should improve drastically.

AT&T service here is alright here. They finally put native coverage out here in Spring 2007, and then acquired Cellular One from Dobson that summer. AT&T customers have had to roam on the local carriers prior to that. The Dobson merger has improved things, but majority of their service still appears to be at 1900Mhz, which does not get into some buildings very well. Calls drop occasionally, but it does not happen very often. The bigger problem is that every once in a while calls will start getting techno garbled for no apparent reason (which seems to indicate an imminent drop) even with full bars, and being outside. Overall though, service with AT&T is pretty good here. No real major complaints No UMTS 3G yet, but I hear it is coming. I would say Alltel and West Central are probably better however, and any of these are better than Sprint / Nextel, or T-Mobile.

The only real problems I've had are I can't send Pix or Flix via my cell phone due to the fact that I'm always piggybacking off of another provider. I can text okay. I also cannot download new ring tones or use the internet on my phone (which I pay extra for.) I almost never drop calls, which is good. I usually wait to go to Killeen before I download ringtones or send my Pix and Flix. We only go once a month, so it is a major inconvienance. Signal strength is okay, though. A good portion of the time I will have five bars. Not a bad provider, really.

Seems to work quite well now. Used to have sporadic problems. Set your phone to Sprint ONLY! You could end up roaming off network even in the city.
