I have lived in this area for 5 years, in two different houses about 5 blocks apart. In the first house (4 years), reception was spotty inside, but consistainly good (three bars) outside. At the new house it is from zero to three bars regardless; inside or out. It is very troublesome as it comes and goes. At one bar they can't hear you, if it goes to zero the call drops. As soon as it drops the call you look and it's at three bars.

14 year customer that will not be with them for year 15. Their service has absolutely gone to hell, especially data. Their pricing is good and the unlimited data plan sounds great. However, it's like going to an all-you-can-eat restaurant that has no food. Unlimited nothing is still nothing.

I've used Verizon for over 10 years. I've never had a problem with their voice or data signals wherever I was. This didn't change after moving to San Antonio in Sept. 2013. Admittedly, their data speeds are a little slow, and I sometimes wonder if they're throttling at times. My biggest complaint about Verizon is price. I very much dislike their move from unlimited data to paying by gigabyte. I find myself having to be very careful about my data usage some months. I've been looking into switching to another provider, but, other than AT&T, no one seems to have decent coverage. I guess you get what you pay for.

T-Mobile

T-mobile was great when I lived on the Northwest side of town, near Bandera and 1604. Now that I've moved to Alamo Heights, I get dropped calls, moments where there is no service whatsoever, and 0-2 bars when I'm supposed to get 4-5. This happens in my home and outside. I have to travel a few miles to get a strong signal. I don't see the point in having this service if I have to invest $200-$600 for a booster unit. If I'm paying for a service, I should be able to access it. T-Mobile told me they'd check the towers and get back to me in 72 hours. They didn't.

Every call I get in my office drops within 20 seconds. I'm in a second floor office with a window. I can usually get calls in another location in the building but no internet service. Extremely poor service. It's been very frustrating.

Sprint services - cell, text and data - horrible. Be nice if ads on TV actually work with your services. It is not right to pay for a service, Sprint doesn't deliver and you are locked into a contract.

HORRIFIC service. Switched from my parents AT&T plan to my own Sprint plan. Worst decision I could have made. I pay close to $100 a month for horrible data service. I'm a realtor and my business rides on me being able to text, email, and use my e-key which relies heavily on a data connection. My phone switches from lte to 3g hundreds of times a day, and even when it shows that I have 4-5 bars of 3g data, nothing loads. Ever. Such poor service coupled with a customer experience that would be embarrassing even for a third world country. I'm paying my early termination and jumping ship. If you use data at all (most everyone nowadays does) then run as fast as you can into a Verizon or AT&T store. Sprint is way behind with their LTE rollout and it doesn't seem like they're doing anything about it anytime soon.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING SWITCHING TO SPRINT. This is a terrible company. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THEM. I signed a 2 year contract with the iPhone 4S 2 years ago (contract just ended thank god) and it was supposed to be $69.99 a month yet I was paying about $200-300 A MONTH in hidden fees and my service was constantly turned off! And then I would throw them a couple hundred dollars and they would shut it off AGAIN in a week and on top of that charge $45 every time to turn it back on. I'm in the store right now with my dad (who has had Sprint for almost 15 years by the way / / way to be good to your loyal customers, not!) and my sister as I am writing this and they are literally trying to sell us everything, shove overpriced products that we don't want or need down our throat. Like an $80 otterbox and screen protesters that are like 49$, and I am telling them straight up I can get BOTH of those similar / identical products on amazon for less than $10. My contract was up and due for an upgrade and they told me before several times that when I switch onto my dad and sisters plan (we are combining because it's supposed to be cheaper) now they say my plan isn't eligible to switch to his and I can't get a new phone UNLESS I want to pay full price for the phone, or pay full price but just pay the tax upfront and then pay for the rest in full divided into 24 monthly payments. The phone is like $800. When I was supposed to get it for upgrade price since they have been RAPING me of money for the past two years. Ummm NO THANKS! And now here I am using a 2 year old broken iPhone and can't do anything about it even after giving Sprint THOUSANDS of dollars just in the past two years. Plus the data is basically unusable if you're not on wifi. NEVER SIGN WITH THEM! Oh and they were even charging me an exta $5 a month just to mail me a piece of paper aka my statement which was just tossed in the trash every time because I pay online or by phone. I went on the website and saw I was being billed for that amongst many other hidden charges which really do add up fast considering it seemed they were billing me what my original bill was supposed to cost BUT about 3x more $. I am furious and can't believe I even was considering resigning. I just wanted my new phone but nevermind I am good if that's the case. And Sprint just lost a loyal customer. Oh one more thing I have had the same phone number for about 10 years and they r trying to tell me I have to get a new one to switch onto another account AND I will have to pay full price for my new phone on top of being raped out of a lot of money in hidden fees. I hope you fix this problem Sprint. Get your stuff together.

I had to choose a location in San Antonio for my review. I picked half-way between our home and our business (they're 3 miles apart), but we travel all over town so the review covers most of the city. Two of our 3 lines are used primarily for our business. We experience incredibly poor service regardless of where we are in and around San Antonio. We switched to Sprint from AT&T in October 2013 (I am sooo sorry I did that!). It's been almost 9 months now and I'm counting down the remaining 15 months. Since we rely on this phone service for our livelihood, I think we will soon be fed up enough to just pay the early termination fee. And you can better believe when the call quality is poor (the majority of the time), we apologize to our clients, telling them we are ever so sorry that we switched to Sprint a few months ago. It doesn't matter if it's talk, text, or data, the service is appallingly poor. Horrible voice echoes, static, and a tremendous number of dropped calls. A couple weeks ago for one conversation I had to repeatedly call back because the call dropped 7 times... seriously?!? My embarrassment was profound and you can imagine what our client thought. Voice mails pop up but there are no missed calls. This never happened with AT&T. When we do get a call it usually rings 3, **maybe** 4 times, and goes to voice mail (which takes from 5 minutes to more than an hour to show up). If I manage to answer in time, the person on the other end tells me they were about to hang up because it rang so many times on their end. We also rely heavily on texts in our business and they take an eternity! On average, sending take 5 to 20 minutes and sometimes longer. And once sent? It **typically** takes 5 minutes to more than an hour for it to be received at the other end. Note that these problems are routine, almost the norm. Service doesn't come close to comparing to what Sprint advertises, nor does the price. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We've had texts take over 6 hours to get to the recipient. We have 3 iPhone 5s and about 30% of text messages between my husband and myself end up sent as standard text messages instead of mms. The same occurs between us and others who have iPhones. And data speeds? Being able to use 4G or LTE is a **rare** occurrence. Data usage is slower than molasses in January (well, January up north anyway!). And the price??? Expensive! My original price estimate was considerably lower than my (then) AT&T bill, but now it's higher than our AT&T bill ever was. Yet I have no clue why. So we pay a premium price for sub-basement service. Laughably, we've been getting text messages from Sprint since January. January 18th Sprint's message said "Over the next month the new network will be largely completed in your area making it better than ever!" Three more messages three and four months later (April 23rd, May 23rd, and May 30th) said "We're continuing to make updates in your area. See how this affects your service" followed by a link to find out. I haven't had the patience to wait to see what's on the page the link directs me to. Four months of "improvements" but experience shows service quality continues to diminish. What ever they're doing... it's not working. Our former AT&T service had it's problems, but nothing even approaching the overwhelmingly poor quality of Sprint's service. I fell prey to Sprint's advertising claims (I should know better... I used to work in an ad agency!) San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the US... Sprint's service map shows excellent quality almost universally across the city, and even over much of Bexar County. I don't know how they measure it and who their third party is that verifies it, but the caveats in the fine print under the service map are the rule, not the exception. To say Sprint is misleading current and prospective customers is an understatement at best. The magnitude of the discrepancy is so large I wonder if the FCC could be persuaded to take a look at their service claims compared to what customers actually experience. For those reviewers in this forum who claim Sprint gives excellent service, I'd say they are very lucky, probably don't use their phone in more than one place in the city, and likely have very low usage rates compared to those of us experiencing Sprint's seriously inferior service. I've been reading reviews on this forum and many others to decide which company we should switch our service to. Right now it's still a toss up between returning to AT&T or trying Verizon. In our business we deal with very high-end clients and virtually all of them end up hearing that the poor quality of voice calls and texts started after we switched to Sprint. Sprint should keep in mind there are others like us. Our business has grown incredibly from word of mouth advertising. I'd have to say Sprint's market share is likely to shrink substantially for the same reason. All the TV and internet advertising (that we poor customers foot the bill for) in the world won't be much use once enough people experience the reality of their service and their pricing. Don't be fooled by enticements of great price, great service. Neither is true. I could provide dozens of references from our clients at the other end of our calls and texts that would attest to the sub-bargain basement quality that we pay a premium price for. I was picky and petty about my problems with AT&T and went looking for perfection. Just sign me... 20 / 20 hindsight...

I've been a Verizon customer for years. Great reception, and great customer service... although in person it can take a while to be helped. My only complaint is the data prices are too high. With all carriers having unlimited packages, I would think Verizon would want to be more competitive.

We've been with Sprint for over 5 years. Moved back to San Antonio 5 months ago and our signal has been horrible since. My husband would try to call me constantly, but the only thing I would receive on my end is a voicemail, no missed calls. Sprint sent us an airave for our house which helped sometimes. there are times I would get full bars or none at all. we are not home all the time and we hardly get any signal when we are out. we get no internet service on our phones too!

Sprint data: At my house on LTE my last test received 0.64 Mbps Down and 1.09 Mbps Up. On 3G my best was 0.42 Mbps Down and 0.15 Mbps up. This seems to be average for many places I regularly go to. Some other areas of San Antonio have much better data speeds for me but I don't live or work in those areas. Call quality: Around my house I miss many calls but when I get them they are of acceptable quality. Around the rest of town I get better quality.
