I have switched cell phone carriers started out with Sprint the reception was very poor. The bill kept going higher its was like the more I talked I was charged for anything. Next I switched to Cingular or now AT&T which was the worst mistake ever so many dropped calls, I would not receive text messages, miss calls, and the cell phone had to replace it four times stayed as a loyal customer of course to avoid paying the switching fees I waited for the contract to be over and cut them off. You call them though to confirm because I had to call several times to cancel and they would tell me ok and then the next mo I would get another bill tell them to tell you when the billing cycle ends. Now I'm with T-Mobile and has been the best decision since then I have gone to canada and it worked out there with no worries since staying in contact with my family is a plus while I was away. I also had bought a backup prepaid cell phone for backup and that also worked fine in canada called the family and was amazed with the reception and clarity on the prepaid cell phone.

Deerfield / Huebner and Blanco, San Antonio, TX 78248 |

Had been a long-time and satisfied Sprint customer, all over the city, since moving to San Antonio 8 years ago. However, the past 3-4 months, way too many dropped calls, mostly north side, and regularly placed on analog roam in the area around Blanco / Huebner / Bitters. Thought it might be temporary, but recently gave up and switched to T-Mobile. T-Mobile's service in the 1st month in the same areas has been excellent, very strong, clear signal and no dropped calls.

T-Mobile better get it together on reception in this area. All company phones are about to dump T-Mobile if not.

I was being generous with the rating. Do NOT attempt using your Sprint service on Callaghan in the Medical Center. I thought it may have been a phone issue, but replacing it didn't resolve the matter and friends / family with Sprint service have also been without coverage.

I signed a 2 year contract 4 months ago with Nextel / Sprint. Great phones! Love mine and my wifes. But tell me, what good are they if we cant ever call each other. I have to go outside to use mine, wont hardly work in the house. 80% of my calls are to my wife, but maybe 5% of the time can I ever get an answer from her due to no reception. It really doesn't matter where she is, or I am, we cant get one another. So I am now considering taking the worst hit of all, and pay to get out of the deal, and seek another carrier. Don't get sucked in by all the great phones at Sprint / Nextel, you won't be able to use them!

Dropped calls all the time, called Sprint they asked how many times I have dropped the phone. Our address is located wrong on the coverage map so it shows us as having great coverage when we have none.

I work at the Texas Research Park and I get 0 reception inside the building. In order for me to get any service at all I have to go stand in the parking lot. I have spoken with Verizon extensively and they stated that they would let me out of my contract without penalty, but I assume that is more due to the fact that everytime that I talk on the phone at work they are having to pay Sprint for my connection (the Sprint tower is about 300m away from the building).

I get iffy coverage in certain classroom buildings, but in the dorms I usually have enough signal to make calls. The coverage in the Olmos Park area is pretty bad, and when I am indoors I usually only have enough signal to send a text message but not make a call. I think part of the problem is my phone though. It has been replaced three times in one year due to major software issues.

Whether I am insider or outdoors, I never have a problem with signal... The coverage is great and I never worry about dropped calls. If I drive around the city I never worry about not having service...

T-Mobile may be the cheapest, but their reception and dropped calls are the worst. I get a dropped call nearly every time I have a conversation. I always lose a call when entering my neighborhood in The Summit, and always lose a call on 1604 between the Huebner and Blanco exits - EVERY time. I went to a concert in Bandera and lost my signal about 5 minutes after getting off I-10, and to Medina the following week- ditto. I asked around and the carrier that seemed to have 4 bars consistently in Bandera and Medina was Cingular / ATT. I asked T-Mobile if they planned to put up a dish / tower in that area and they said they doubted it. Do they realize the population growth headed in that direction? They are going to lose me if this does not improve.

I have to place the phone ion different windowa of the house to try and find a signal. If they are raising the bar it's nowhere near me. I can go outside my house and see the tower, but I have no reception. I don't know of anyone in my nieghborhood that doesn't have reception problems.

Never have problems with Sprint. Reception rarely drops under 4 bars and 80% of the time I've got 5. Dropped calls are usually on the other end. I notice newer Sprint customers have alot of problems. Are newer customers on newer more unreliable frequencies? I've been with Sprint for 8 years and I'm not switching anytime soon.

Always been good at my home near the Medical center, though I know of one major "dead spot" on Callaghan Rd about 1.4 miles from home, as I drive toward Fredericksburg Rd. Over all, very good reception with the Verizon Co. Beats my previous provider all over the place.
