Switched to Cingular after Voicestream became T-Mobile and they changed my plan on me (even though they claim they did not). Might be regretting the change now as Cingular service is horrible no matter where I am. First phone was a Motorola V220 and reception and clarity were incredibly bad. Read reviews and this phone was rated poor, so spent the money and got an LG 1400 after reading reviews that said it was a good phone. It hasn't helped any. Reception on Cingular is poor all the time, even though the phone shows a full 5 bars. It is hard to understand the person I am talking to because their voice sounds like it fades in and out with a weird digital interference sound. I can be right smack in town, with full bar reception and simply turn my head and lose connection. I constantly have to ask people to repeat what they are saying because they can't be understood well due to their voice dropping out or fading. I get dropped calls constantly and a lot of my calls are to my wife, also using an LG 1400 phone on Cingular. It is not uncommon for us to have to call each other back and forth 2-3 or more times just to have one conversation of several minutes. Another thing that is highly annoying is that Cingular phones interfere with any radio or speakers. If you have your computer sound on, or stereo on, the phone causes loud buzzing noises any time it sends or receives. I have come to recognize certain buzzing patterns and can actually answer my phone before it ever rings. We literally have to shut off all radios and stereos any time we use the phones in our home. Unfortunately, I am stuck with a 2 year contract with this crappy service and the only way out is to pay their fee. I'm sorry I went to Cingular and I would never recommend them to anyone.

I have been with T-Mobile for several years and proud. Use to have the V66 but it did not work in the St. Philips buildings or on the military bases. Have the V300 now and they work everywhere. Cingular will never have its act together. Even former ATT customers are getting poor agreements from Cingular. Sprint is to risky. An Alltel is all the way at Marble Falls, TX to serve San Antonio and Austin consumers. And Verizon is selling out your cell phone numbers to telemarkets. BECAREFUL OUT THERE.

Good reception with Sprint here, usually two bar inside the apartments, 3 to 4 bars when outside. The Sprint network itself has been reliable, however, the same cannot be said for Sprint customer service on the phone OR when you venture into one of the local Sprint stores. When recently upgrading my phones, a ran into the usual incompetence at my nearby Sprint store. Finding competent employees here in San Antonio is always a challenge, especially given the slow-wittedness of the predominant population here, but the twit who programmed my phones managed to not program the second phone and place me on the wrong plan. And after spending nearly $600 she didn't even thank me. Instead, I had to call Sprint to learn how to program my second phone and then correct my calling plan. I had to call three times before I spoke to someone who spoke clear English and could understand how to resolve my problem. Customer disservice seems to be Sprint's forte and it is sad that one has to pay close attention to ensure everything is done correctly. Imagine the thousands who blindly trust Sprint PCS reps both in-store and on the phone... customers who must be getting overcharged grossly! For use in and around San Antonio, Sprint works relatively well. But be warned, educate yourself before you rely on store staff and double-check their work BEFORE you leave the store. Know your plan and the options you're choosing. These employees seem to be educated to do one thing: sell you the most services at the highest prices and get you out of the store as quickly as possible. And here, in San Antonio, the indigenous dimwits will do just that!

Switched to T-Mobile because Sprint's Customer service reps are just plain rude. When I had Sprint, connections seemed to be good anyplace That I went in Texas, so long as I didn't head out west of Boerne on I-10. In that case service was gone. Now that I have T-Mobile I have a connection almost anywhere. It fades and drops constantly. The sound quality is always poor. It is a connection though. Customer service is really good. The connections are terrible.
