Outside my rural home, signal strength is -104 db; inside home was -120 (almost no signal at all)... I did add an extender / repeater (65 db booster with directional antenna... closest Verizon tower is 6.4 miles direct line). Now, signal inside home is -75 db (very good). I would suggest, therefore, that in weak areas whereby you rely totally on your cell phone, a good extender / repeater is a good investment. The cost of the extender was recovered in about 9 months after cancelling my land line (which in a rural area, also has lots of "issues".

Reception on Verizon drops significantly as rural area is approached... went from 5 bars to 1 bar within a mile off the main road. Seems to be worse at night for some reason.

I get very poor reception at my home, with no bars inside the house and possibly one standing on the porch. Unfortunately, I know others with Verizon who don't get any better service. We need a tower.
