Phone service is solid. Data service is quite another problem. I get green bars at random times and they go away for no reason at all. I put the phone in the window and the data signal varies between nothing at all and 4 bars at random without the phone moving at all. Repeated calls to tech support have yet to yield any solutions or answers as to why this is happening.

I had a 10 year old Audiovox CDM9000 that got ok reception and transmitted well. This new phone is fabulous for its features and organizer, but the transmission power is about half as good as my old one. I am told that newer phones have less transmitting power due to the brain cancer scare. It seems that is the case as I can hear others, they just can't hear me. I have had too install a signal repeater to be heard when I am inside the house.

Many dropped calls along 4800 W. and throughout Highland. Reception was great with Digital AT&T, but the GSM reception has really been poor. I have reported this to At&T / Cingular a number of times, with no detectable improvement.

In my home in Highland I get from No Service to 3 bars - reception fluctuates a lot. Even with 3 bars I have difficulty hearing the person who called me - especially on the v505. I also have trouble in many spots along Alpine Highway. AT&T's TDMA service was much better - but now that they are switching towers over it has declined somewhat. I plan on trying a couple of Nokia phones before I give up on GSM for now. There are two spots where I get 5 bars - in Kohler's and up at Alpine Ariels gymnastics (305 N 400 W in Alpine - it's on a hill).

Since day one I have had problems with reception on my phone (Sony T68i). Weak or No Signal in house or office. Sometimes I have full strengh but cannot dial out or receive calls (no indication it's working or not other than people telling me that my phone dumped them directly to voice mail).
Even had trouble in downtown SLC. Always lose reception when I go to E-center for hockey games.
I think the phone is a major problem but it's hit and miss with others.
