Cingular works really well when I am traveling on business to Southern California but doesn't work well in my home or on highland drive. Every time I drive by the Pinnacle appartments on 7600 S. Highland Dr.I drop the call. Every time without fail!

Terrible service in this area. Most calls drop or are garbled to the point of not being able to understand one another. Previous residents said they had no problem with Verizon here.

Poor reception. Signal drops from full bars to zero bars during a call. Sometimes fluctuates from Verizon to extended area. On average dropping each call 2-3 times in this area. The rest of the valley is nearly perfect. This one area is beyond horrible.

I usually get good reception. My phone only dropped calls maybe two or three times in the almost 2 years I've had it. When it dropped calls it is usually while driving 700E and 10600 S. Gateway, Crossroads, Downtown area seems to be fine. I don't go up the canyons very often, so I could not tell about coverage in those areas.

Verizon is the best, and it couldnt be any better. Get service everywhere, and in places where no one else gets service. Rarely drops calls, best out there.

I switched to Cingular about two weeks ago. Calls from approximately 800 E. and 10800 S. are very poor in quality - even when outside. I cannot get a signal most of the time from the basement of my home at that address, and when calling from the main floor the person on the other end of the line often complains (if they haven't been dropped prior to being able to complain). I spent an hour on the phone with Cingular customer service yesterday. Their solution: Have more customers log complaints to Cingular and after they get enough complaints they might be able to send out a technician to check out the area.

In our experience, Cingular GSM has the worst reception / transmission of any carrier in the Salt Lake market, and their customer service is equally dismal... don't waste your time with these guys; it's not worth it for all the dropped calls, garbled conversations and 30 minute wait times with customer service...... their attitude is best summarized "we're too big to care" We'd highly recommend TMobile, Verizon and Qwest, in that order, for transmission / reception and voice quality superior to Cingular...

Coming up to redwood road on bangerter HWY I get poor reception around the river bottoms. I also get poor reception around 10600 So and 700 E. I use to love AT&T wireless. But there new GSM network sucks!

AT&T TDMA / AMPS provides very good coverage in this area including up the Cottenwood canyons and the ski resorts. The canyon reach may be due to AT&T phones ability to use the AMPS analog network which has greater range than the digital nets. However, AT&T TDMA / AMPS is being discontinued by 2006 and may degrade between now and then as Cingular converts the AT&T TDMA and AMPS 800 MHz to GSM 800. So TDMA customers accustomed to excellent coverage have to switch to something with inferor coverage. From what I read and hear, Verizon offers the next best coverage and theoretically does provide AMPS for rural area coverage.
