Despite getting 1-2 bars of reception call are never dropped and the call clarity is still near perfect. When the phone is on 3G is it extremely slow. When 4G is switched on I get 1 or 2 bars and the internet is very fast.

Great reception for both voice and data in my home in Sandy and same goes for my work downtown. I work in an office building and often take calls in a conference room in the middle of the building with no windows. Never have a problem dropping calls with the exeption of when I am passing the point of the mountain going to / from Utah county. Other than that, no complaints about service!

Signal strength varies during the day. Few if any dropped calls and good voice quality. Data speeds are slow however with avg of 550kbps down and 75kbps up in what should be a 1400 kbps network.

I have had T-Mobile for 3 years, and am going to sign in again for another 2 year contract. In this area, and while driving around Utah and Idaho (As I work ALL OVER) T-Mobile rarley lets me down. There are a few spots and times when I can't get good reception (Like in Sandy Costco, 1300 W 10000 S, 6200 S 700 E)), but 99% of the time, I'm good. My friend had Sprint and it was always dropping calls in the area, but not that bad, but my cell phone always won :)

I have lived in Sandy, UT (5-10 miles south of Salt Lake City) and have worked in Salt Lake City near the Utah University area for the past 3 years and have used Verizon service the entire time. I think the service has been very good to excellent. I do hit one blackout spot that lasts for about 1 / 2 mile on my drive home but I think this is due to a microwave shot (interference) that crosses the valley and is not due to Verizon. From my experience in Utah and from my national travel I would highly recommend Verizon National Coverage.

Verizon is the best, and it couldnt be any better. Get service everywhere, and in places where no one else gets service. Rarely drops calls, best out there.

I have used all of them here in the Salt Lake Valley and even though Verizon does have it's reception problem areas, they are still the best. I use close to 4000 minutes a month and have dropped less than 5 calls in one year. Great signal everywhere, Verizon is the only reliable service at my house in Willow Creek; works great out in Magna areas as well; even made phone calls at Kennecott's copper mine where my Sprint, T-Mobile and Cricket phones had no service. Signal reaches in very far into Millcreek Canyon; the best, most reliable coverage in most canyon and ski areas; driving out to Wendover service is good as well; driving to Moab, the only big dead spot is in American Fork Canyon( but every carrier has that dead spot). Then solid coverage towards I-70. So even though Verizon will have some small reception problems, overall they are the best network here in northern Utah. Btw, I get full reception at 9000 South and 700 West, Verizon has a cellsite at 9000 South and I-15 so coverage in that area is rock solid.

Had a Motorola = crappy reception. My new Samsung is leaps and bounds better. Even in my basement I can still get 4 bars of service. Dropped calls?? Come on, this is Cingular we're talking about... . fewest dropped calls of any carrier! BUT, there's always room for improvement!

I usually get good reception. My phone only dropped calls maybe two or three times in the almost 2 years I've had it. When it dropped calls it is usually while driving 700E and 10600 S. Gateway, Crossroads, Downtown area seems to be fine. I don't go up the canyons very often, so I could not tell about coverage in those areas.

Tue Nov 09, 2004 |
AT&T TDMA / AMPS provides very good coverage in this area including up the Cottenwood canyons and the ski resorts. The canyon reach may be due to AT&T phones ability to use the AMPS analog network which has greater range than the digital nets. However, AT&T TDMA / AMPS is being discontinued by 2006 and may degrade between now and then as Cingular converts the AT&T TDMA and AMPS 800 MHz to GSM 800. So TDMA customers accustomed to excellent coverage have to switch to something with inferor coverage. From what I read and hear, Verizon offers the next best coverage and theoretically does provide AMPS for rural area coverage.

I have lived at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon my entire life and started using Verizon first. Verizon never had service anywhere from little cottonwood to big cottonwood on wasatch blvd. I switched to Sprint about three years ago and usually have at least three bars no matter where I go.

I've tried Sprint in Salt Lake and service was okay, but nothing too special. A few dead spots I found with Sprint in the Salt Lake Valley: Union Middle School (no service in most part of the school), Hillcrest High School(very weak), Gateway Mall (all or nearly all stores are dead), the ZCMI Center has lots of dead spots for Sprint, drving on 7th East from Fort Union towards 6600 South calls drop nearly every time right before you cross I-215, Big Cottonwood Canyon is totally dead right after you enter the canyon (Verizon's digital service reaches much further into the canyon), also in Millcreek Canyon Sprint service is gone right away while Verizon reaches in very far (and so does AT&T TDMA) and there are many more. Sprint coverage in the Salt Lake Valley is all right, they have a lot of room for improvement though! I'd recomend Verizon for Utah, Cricket, though, is also quite strong here in the Salt Lake Valley. I never had a network busy message when using Cricket. Only thing to be carefull of is that they do not work at the ski areas and don't even provide continous service along I-80 to Park City.

Droid X doesn't allow outgoing calls because of only having one or two bars--making it totally useless in my house. My old Verizon Krazor gets decent reception at my house, although it drops on occasion. I've had two others phones through Verizon here and only one of them was dependable. Unless Verizon Wireless puts another cell phone tower in the East Sandy area, I'm probably going to end up leaving them. Sorry, Verizon... I've loved your service, but I really need to be able to make calls from my house.

Poor reception. Signal drops from full bars to zero bars during a call. Sometimes fluctuates from Verizon to extended area. On average dropping each call 2-3 times in this area. The rest of the valley is nearly perfect. This one area is beyond horrible.
