Dead zone. Constant dropped calls also in Granite area where we live. One or no bars. Unreliable. Going to try T-Mobile.

I have lived at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon my entire life and started using Verizon first. Verizon never had service anywhere from little cottonwood to big cottonwood on wasatch blvd. I switched to Sprint about three years ago and usually have at least three bars no matter where I go.

Poor reception. Signal drops from full bars to zero bars during a call. Sometimes fluctuates from Verizon to extended area. On average dropping each call 2-3 times in this area. The rest of the valley is nearly perfect. This one area is beyond horrible.

Verizon is the best, and it couldnt be any better. Get service everywhere, and in places where no one else gets service. Rarely drops calls, best out there.

AT&T TDMA / AMPS provides very good coverage in this area including up the Cottenwood canyons and the ski resorts. The canyon reach may be due to AT&T phones ability to use the AMPS analog network which has greater range than the digital nets. However, AT&T TDMA / AMPS is being discontinued by 2006 and may degrade between now and then as Cingular converts the AT&T TDMA and AMPS 800 MHz to GSM 800. So TDMA customers accustomed to excellent coverage have to switch to something with inferor coverage. From what I read and hear, Verizon offers the next best coverage and theoretically does provide AMPS for rural area coverage.

This area by Little Cottonwood Canyon has poor to no cell service. AT&T / Sprint PCS / Qwest cell phones have worse service in this area.

I have lived in Sandy, UT (5-10 miles south of Salt Lake City) and have worked in Salt Lake City near the Utah University area for the past 3 years and have used Verizon service the entire time. I think the service has been very good to excellent. I do hit one blackout spot that lasts for about 1 / 2 mile on my drive home but I think this is due to a microwave shot (interference) that crosses the valley and is not due to Verizon. From my experience in Utah and from my national travel I would highly recommend Verizon National Coverage.

Cingular works really well when I am traveling on business to Southern California but doesn't work well in my home or on highland drive. Every time I drive by the Pinnacle appartments on 7600 S. Highland Dr.I drop the call. Every time without fail!

I have used all of them here in the Salt Lake Valley and even though Verizon does have it's reception problem areas, they are still the best. I use close to 4000 minutes a month and have dropped less than 5 calls in one year. Great signal everywhere, Verizon is the only reliable service at my house in Willow Creek; works great out in Magna areas as well; even made phone calls at Kennecott's copper mine where my Sprint, T-Mobile and Cricket phones had no service. Signal reaches in very far into Millcreek Canyon; the best, most reliable coverage in most canyon and ski areas; driving out to Wendover service is good as well; driving to Moab, the only big dead spot is in American Fork Canyon( but every carrier has that dead spot). Then solid coverage towards I-70. So even though Verizon will have some small reception problems, overall they are the best network here in northern Utah. Btw, I get full reception at 9000 South and 700 West, Verizon has a cellsite at 9000 South and I-15 so coverage in that area is rock solid.
