Going by the website, it seems like about everybody sells service to people in Abingdon, but most only cover the interstate. I use to have AT&T and my husband has Verizon through his work in Johnson City, but once you get off the interstate, Alltel by far works the best. Even in some of the very rural places of Washington and Russell Co. Alltel pretty much all that works. Sometimes my husband's line will switch over and roam on alltel, but I also noticed that Verizon is about as expensive as it gets and gives fewer minutes for the price. Alltel is also the only one with a couple stores in Abingdon and easily keeps the best signal around the town where I work at the hospital, and throughout the town in general.

I get very good signal pretty much everywhere in Abingdon. Data connection can be slow but usually goes fast.

Verizon has always given me excellent phone and customer service. There's a few spots I drop calls but I have seen other carriers drop calls in the same area. When I'm out hiking with friends on the AT or Creeper trail, if anyone has cell service, it's on my Verizon phone. I would highly reccommend them to anyone. I've convienced my aunt and uncle to switch from Altell.

I've had Alltel for about a year and the coverage has always been very good throughout Abingdon and Bristol. The signal is always very good and never have any dropped calls. Been to all the local high schools for sporting events and around the area for entertainment. Full signal all around exit 7, Cinemall, BMS, AHS, Battle and nowhere in area I can't make or receive a call. Very good service.
