Family has several phones and we can't call each other. I'm tired of fighting to get reception... thinking of just canceling to save money until someone has a solution.

i have had Verizon service since the gitgo - maybe 15 years now - same phone number and had this phone for two years- PERFECT reception everywhere I have been all over the US, hawaii, remote areas... you name it. i always had service when ppl with other networks did not. outside of a two block area about fifteen minutes from my home in PA - no issues. that is until now. i am visiting my son and babysitting at his house in alexandria - almost no service here - if I get two bars and start a call - I just have to breathe and move a millimeter or two and the call is dropped and no one can hear me. awful.

Took my new Verizon phone home and sat next to an 8 foot window. First call dropped twice. Took phone back promptly to store and cancelled service with all packaging and contract, but I kept receiving bills. Took five calls for Verizon to zero out the bill. Similiar issue with landline service attempted at the same time- nice service reps with no follow through. BTW, I can walk throughout my house with my ATT iphone.

Higher elevation of my neighborhood does up to 3 bars but the lower areas of the hilly topography in Mt. Zephyr do not. One bar with some carriers, 0 with others.

I just moved here from Texas where I was able to get perfect reception in VERY remote areas with this Verizon service / phone. There was no place I couldn't go. Guess it must be tower / satellite location because up here in VA the service is absolutely terrible. I get sub par, one bar or disconnect, reception in my house. For my wireless internet card used with my laptop, the service is so sporadic that I've pretty much stopped checking email online (now just through blackberry). I found this website because I'm trying to find a new service provider, but apparently Verizon is the best here. If you are moving to this area, I highly recommend checking wireless connectivity when you are house / apt shopping. Sounds nerdy, but it might save you a lot of headache later.

Awful reception in this area, either inside or outside. My sister has better luck with T-Mobile. Great otherwise.

the house is a dead zone for the cell phone. cant get any reception in house, and not enough reception in yard to understand what the other person is saying. driving through the neighborhood is ok, reception is kind of spotty. waynewood is just a spotty area for cell reception, we've had problems with Sprint and AT&T in the past, and we have the same problems now with verizon. on more major roads (fort hunt, gw, rt1) reception is excellent, much better than with those other 2 providers. except in the mt vernon area of the gw pkwy. reception dies a little in there too.

Reception has gotten noticable better over the past year or so. With a basic home repeater I have 3 to 4 bars in the parts of my house that I need it most- typically 2 to 3 bars, which is all you really need to keep from dropping calls.

They really need better reception throughout the alexandria area especially in the neighborhoods or beverly hills and del ray. I can barely use my phone at home and have to go outside for spotty service. not even an external antenna helps.

During the day at work in DC I get great reception. But, when I want to use my free minutes in the evenings or on the weekends from home, I am constantly cut off because of POOR reception. I've called Verizon several times and never gotten any real help--you would think that reception would be better in such an urban area.

Little or no reception in my house at 5th St. and Chowan Ave. The house is in a valley with steep hills in front and back. I've noticed coverage is poor elsewhere in the neighborhood, e.g., in Whole Foods at Little River Turnpike and Braddock Rd.

Del Ray (especially) and Old Town Alexandria need better coverage. In 22305, just north of 22301 intersection mentioned, the reception is awful. Calls dropped at least once during every phone conversation.
