After a couple of years of at least 1 of every 3 of my calls being dropped by Verizon, I switched to Cingular / ATT two weeks ago. Have yet to drop a call. I couldn't use my Verizon phone at home, three miles east of Berryville. I have 4-5 bars with Cingular. I couldn't use Verizon in Boyce or Millwood... no problem with Cingular. I've yet to find a place in Clarke / Frederick / Winchester area where I don't have great reception.
Had Cingular reception was HORRIBLE at best! After getting fet up and after every excuse in the book from them I paid to drop contract to move my number to verizion. Reception is great would be excellent if power was increased to help in houses.
Often I have no service. When I do, lots of people can't hear me. I can hear them, but they can't hear me at all. I spend a lot of time listening to people say "hello, hello, are you there?" Very frustrating. Sometimes I will have 5 bars of signal, but they still can't hear me. Service gets better once past the treatment plant at the Clarke / Frederick line, but vecomes very spotty in the Berryville area, and vanishes entirely climbing and descending the mountain until in Purcellville where suddenly they can hear me fine (so it isn't the phone). The most annoying feature is waiting all day for someone to call me back while I am in Berryville, then the next day, still in Berryville, suddenly getting a missed call message and learning the call had been made the day before. I get a lot of that. So too does my wife who is a Nextel user.
