The only time I lose reception is inside a VT building that has cellphone blockers installed intentionally... and even there I get SOME signal. <3 Verizon!
reception is good everywhere on campus if youre outside. take 2 steps into any building and youre probably out of luck. in pritchard, my phone works ok if I force it into analog. digital works near the windows. it works pretty well in owens and dietrick. right at 9, its rare to get a call through on the first try.
I very rarely have reception problems in any areas that I go. All of Bburg, Cburg, Radford, and all surrounding areas are great, usually 4-5 bars. Even travelling on Price's Fork between Bburg and Radford when most people I know calls get lost I still have at least 2 bars. I do have a random going into roaming problem. This occurs at various spots around town. If it happens to kick into roaming when I'm on a call it will drop. But this doesn't happen often enough to be too bothered by it since most other times I always have reception even when my b / f's Verizon phone does not.
I've gotten 1-4 bars everywhere in blacksburg / christiansburg. I've used it on Campus, Oakbridge, Tech Terrace, Foxridge, and Terrace View apts without any dead spots. Used to be that there were several dead spots, but now there aren't any, except in McBryde. The good thing about Verizon / Sprint in general is that they use CDMA technology which gives you clear calls even on 1 bar, so that's all you need pretty much. With Cingular / TMobile, they use GSM - where every bar makes a difference in audio quality.
