Some providers focus on the interstates and between South Hill and Emporia or basically outside of those cities there's no reception at all. For Brodnax and Lawrenceville or anybody traveling on 58 very often, I would go with Alltel. Cingular is just dead in these areas. I know a few people with Verizon and they do cover areas on the highway but they describe many more dead spots than I have with Alltel. They've described one major dead spot for a couple miles between Brodnax and Lawrenceville which I don't have with Alltel. Overall, I've done my best to compare providers and Alltel just does seem to do the best, especially as you get off the highway a couple miles, although all providers could improve. As far as the price goes which I also consider to be important, I've not found anybody better than Alltel either. They seem to give more minutes for the price than anybody else and My Circle, unlimited calling to any 10 numbers, is on my family plan so it's basically unlimited calling on both our phones for for $69. Much better than anybody else offered. Overall, I'm pleased with Alltel's coverage and prices and wouldn't go with anybody else for this area.
