AWFUL. I have service just about everywhere else except my house. Every now and then I can get a call to go through... for about 30 seconds and then its lost. I thought we were getting a new cell tower? I hope it didn't get shot down.

Very poor to terrible reception. Fairfax planning commission approved plans for a new tower in Burke back in January 2011, but I cannot find any updates about it. Probably got squashed by some hippie neighbors.

Poor might be too generous to describe the coverage in Burke.

Godawful Verizon coverage in Burke Centre area, outside is great. Its like a black hole for cell coverage.

With Verizon in Burke, it is always a crap shoot. I think it has something to do with sun spots. Once you leave Burke the coverage is normally good.

DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT get Verizon Wireless if you live in, or around, Burke Centre. You will drop almost all of your calls - if you are able to make them in the first place. I can't even send a text message from my phone on most days from my house. I hope it is not Burke Centre Conservancy that is preventing towers from the area.

My phone never gets any reception and it doesn't look like Verizon is going to do anything about it. I thought it was only Verizon that had reception problems however, it seems like everyone is affected from it. It's just pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

Horrible reception in my townhouse. I have to go to a specific corner of my third floor to even get reception. Calls drop about 90% of the time. Hard to believe there is such horrible reception in such a highly populated area! Frustrating!

Reception is always 2 bars or less. Calls are dropped constantly. Sometimes reception is better outside, but not always. This is ridiculous.

Just moved to Burke Centre -- shocked to find that Verizon has shoddy coverage at best. Verizon has always had superior coverage wherever I've lived (Columbus, Boston, Arlington, Alexandria, and rural Ohio), but we've been getting static and dropped calls so far in Burke. A friend got perfect coverage with Sprint, but I'm not sure I'm ready to switch without testing out various carriers...

I have to stand in the street in front of my house on Stonecutter to, maybe, get a phone call that lasts at best, 5 minutes, 10 if you're lucky. Absolutely no service in or behind the house. AWFUL. Verizon KNOWs this area is dead, but the still insist on sending out a technician (I've yet to see) to "check".

Calls dropped in back part of house. Calls occasionally dropped in front part of house. Reception best and calls not dropped outside in front of house. Missed messages. After reading comments, most of Burke seems to have below average to poor reception and dropped calls. Carriers don't seem to be the issue, though I have considered dropping Verizon and switching to T-Mobile, Cingular, or Cellular One. I'm surprised the carriers haven't been able to fix the problem. The problem must be other than the towers.

There's a cell tower within site of my home, yet I can't get calls out from inside my house in Burke. There will be one bar, then no bars, then three bars, then none again. Us Burke residents must live inside of some weird magnetic field!

In my house, my cell phone may ring, but the call will drop immmendiately upon answering. Outside of the house, the reception is slightly better, but I still can't hold a meaningful conversation without a series of "say again," "what was that," "could you repeat that last thing... " I got better reception with my old bullet-proof Motorola, but the new phone just doesn't cut it. I'm tempted to dump Verizon, and would if I thought any of the other services were better, but according to this board, none appear any to address the issue sufficiently. I suppose I have to move!

I have no reception at my house with my Verizon phone and my battery doesn't last for more than 14 hours at a time. This could be due in part to my phone being rather "old," but newly issued phones don't work in my neighborhood either. No, I cannot hear you now.

I had perfect reception with the very same service and location using Motorola T720. Since I switched to Treo 650 I am yet to have a phone call that does not drop on me. Do not get the Treo 650 with Verizon if you are in Fairfax county.

This is absolutely one of the worst areas for VZW cell service! Even when stationary you can go from "No Service" to 4 / 5 bars and back to 1 bar / No Service within seconds. Same thing while walking, all in the space of a few yards. Very inconsistent service. Frequent call drops and missed calls. Missed call messages mysteriously beep and appear with no ringing signal. Hopefully one of the major carriers will get their act together, test and provide decent coverage throught this area.

I get no reception inside my apartment, and in order to make phone calls, I have to walk to the front part of my neighborhood, where I will most likely lose the call anyways. Part of Fairfax County parkway I don't have reception either. Definitely no reception off of Gambrill Rd / Springfield area. No reception in my first apartment in Annandale right off of River Rd.
