frequent dropped calls and sometime even if calls come in they are scratchy

I have to go outside to get poor cell reception, or put my phone on the window sill for a 50 / 50 chance at sending a text. Actually its more like 80 / 20. Extremely frustrating.

have to go outside on the deck to get ANY type of service. supposedly a new tower is going up at the golf course here soon.

Works great... except in the basement of my house. can send and recieve texts but calls are spotty. As for the throughout the neighborhood, never had a problem and glad I switched a few years back.

Absolutely no reception in the basement and very poor reception in the rest of the house. Usually only 1 bar if I am lucky.

Can get no service in or outside of my townhouse. using this website I see Cingular has 4 antennas very close to my house I will be switching. My sister has Sprint and has the same problems

0-1 bars on my street. Reception goes to 4 bars on Rt 28 and stays good into Reston, but this neighborhood is very hard on Nextel. Since the Sprint merger I get about 3x as many dropped calls when I can get a signal at all.

I used to love Cingular so I gladly upgraded my older phone to the new GSM phone about a year ago. The call quality has improved but I drop one out of three calls I make on it and coverage is spotty, it will show that you have 4 bars in an area, but as soon as you try to make a call it drops to 2 bars. In my opinion the problem is GSM. If you have an old clunky phone but get good reception, KEEP IT.

Have 3+ bars in this general area. In my own basement even have good reception.

Even in my townhouse basement I get 3 bars usually. Outside it's a solid 4.

I am a student at westfield Hs and the sinnal inside the scool is poor to none. I loose signal around the cox farms area and the virginia run area varies.. my neihbors house has 4 bars... I have 1

Hopefully Sprint will help Nextel get better, but until then reception is terrible. I have dropped calls all the time. I'm going to switch to Verizon or Sprint sooner then later.

Signal virtually non-existant inside home. Only a little better outside. This was also the case with my old phone, a Motorola v60.

poor reception with spotty reception

Reception is good in Centreville (Stone Rd. area). I can get a signal on all 3 levels of my townhouse. It's spotty in some areas of the house, but hey, it's a cell phone. If you wanna use a phone in the house that badly, use your LAN line.

Cingular's signal is quite spotty in Fairlake / Centreville area. In the Fairlake shopping area (outdoor) signal is only 2 to 3 bars even though the shopping center is less than 1/4 mile from I-66 !! In the in-door enviroment the signal is near non-existent. I had the Cingular TDMA before and switched to the Cingular GSM network and the signal quality improved only a little bit.

1 bar indoors, dropped calls even when sitting by window. Switching back to AT&T, who has great reception!

It is so bad I am switched to SPRINT and I now have no problems... Nextel is terrible in the Metro DC area...

When I first moved here a year ago, there was ZERO reception. Now I have 5 bars and am at -80dBm. That's about as good as you're really gonna get! Arlington, Va also recently added some towers as I had the same problem there but don't now. Kudo's to T-Mobile!

I am so happy with my Cingular service, it is outstading! My phone work very well in Fairlakes, more specifically Best Buy. I think that anyone looking for a balance between customer service, cool phones, and reliability should go to Cingular.
