3-5 bars over almost all of Christiansburg / Blacksburg, but _always_ roaming (on Verizon). This sucks battery life. Also, Alltel prepaid plan forces you to dial the number twice when roaming, and Verizon seems to have a very limited allocation of circuits for non-VZW users. Translation: it's often impossible to dial out on evenings, and to a lesser extent weekends. No problem receiving calls though. It's a PITA, but cheap.
brand new phone- no reception in Christiansburg- esp at the Mall (outside) and on major roads- Pepper's Ferry Road, 460 bypass, and on Tech campus. Can't believe I can't use my new phone and service here- stuck with it for 2 years!
