Sprint's service in Danville is mediocre at best and poor to zilch in many parts of Pittsylvania County. Try making a call at the Food Lion on 41 about 4 miles from the city limits. I live at one of the highest points in the county and have no bars inside my house.. One outside, IF I am lucky. Verizon and Alltell have much better coverage. I have a friend who lives at the at a point much lower than where I live within 2 miles are my house and he gets 4-5 bars with Verizon.
I travel all throughout Danville on the Verizon Network and have not had any trouble with reception or dropped calls. My coverage also stays up through travel to and form CHtahma on US 29 and 41.
I have been with Alltel since 2002 and have been very pleased with their service. Other than occasionally spotty coverage near DCC on South Main, I've had consistently good service throughout the Danville area and even out into parts of Pittsylvania County where Nextel and Cingular are nowhere to be found. Add free long distance, unlimited nights as early as 7pm, free calls home and to other mobile numbers, and a very large national network, and you have a great package for the price. And no, I'm not an Alltel employee, just a happy customer. :-)
Reception throughout the entire city is excellent. Never had a dropped call or fad-outs while in Danville. Coverage is very good on all of the major routes in and around the city as well. No Complaints. Period.
Alltel has the best reception in the Pittsylvania County / Danville City area I think. I have had 3 other cell carriers and Alltel is the best by far. They may not be perfect with billing, but if they make a mistake, they fix it promptly without a lot of hassle.
