This is ridiculous - I frequently have only one bar and can't get reception in my own house. The phone will ring, but I can't answer it. Why bother? I frequently have to park out on Silverbrook Rd. to continue a conversation and then 3 out of four times they'll lose the call. It's a lot like cable tv - doesn't matter how much you pay, they've got you over the barrel and don't really care if you get the service you're paying for. After reading the other carrier comments, I guess I'll go buy a more expensive phone and an external booster so I can finish my calls.
All calls crop after passing Lake Mercer. Cell phone reception is terrible in this area. After three years of only having a cell phone in McLean, Verizon has failed me. It is unbelievable that they cannot fix this problem and after my contract is up I will not renew. No calls placed are ended by saying goodbye but by a dropped call. Ridiculous.
I get a signal strength of 5 bars throughout my entire house including the basement! I am.5 miles from the intersection of Fairfax County Pkwy. and 123. The signal is so strong and reliable that I could cancel my land line service. However, in the Burke, VA Walmart, there is no service at all. I also get a great signal at work near Fairfax Hospital.
I barely make any calls that aren't dropped. It is frustrating that in this day and age, 25 miles outside of the nation's capital in a DENSELY populated area, that it doesn't seem as though anyone is reporting decent coverage. I will say that my husband gets a tiny bit better coverage with his Motorola phone (which is not all digital). I have been doing an informal poll (asking my friends) and have found that folks with phone that don't flip open seem to get much better reception everywhere. I don't know why that would be. My phone is all digital and this is not a good area for all digital, Verizon tells me. Don't ask me why they recommended the phone to me when I got it. We have decided to pay the $175 to get out of the contract, in part because of the rude and unhelpful customer service at Verizon.
Digital service Service in or out is very spotty in the house. Phone set to signal when service is available and dropped will beep intermittently while sitting still near a window. Cannot place a reliably usable call from any inside location. Also cannot communicate from inside Burke Centre Safeway. Formerly had Cingular analog service. That would work most of the time in all the locations mentioned.
I have had T-Mobile for 4 years. Service seems to have deteriorated recently. I cannot get any bars in my house. I called T-Mobile and they say tower only 0.95 miles from house. First time said they were working on it. Second time, no real explantion, give me more minutes, third time still no explantion, more minutes and $5 off. So what if you can't get a signal. Neighbor two houses below me has Verizon. Also having trouble getting signal in house. Better outside. Most times away from my house I do get signal strong enough to make and receive calls.
