Excellent coverage over the Fairfax county area. Virtually nowhere inside or out that I do not get a clear, usable signal. Most of the time I have maximum signal.

I had AT&T TMDA. Until aprox. 4 Weeks ago, it was great, then they relaigned the towers. Since the TMDA service has become unusable, I swtiched to Cingular (GSM?). The service is really is LOUSY ! For what ever reason, I get no service inside comercial buildings (the grocery, post office, shops, etc) and around the beltway it is equally undependable. In my house, the signal ranges from nothing to full signal. I go one block and the signal is perfect. Another block and it is nonexistant. The service is not as good as AT&T. I want my AT&T TMDA. I get fewer bars in more places !

The reception keep jumping from 0 bar to 1 bar, 2 bars if you are lucky. So, I get drop calls all the time. Complete waste of money! Cingular, please do something.

Reception used to be good inside my house but since a couple of months ago (This report written 9 / 2005) the reception in my house has been atrocious. I've had to walk outside to get good reception. What kind of crap is that? -- Interesting note: The "bars" look good on my cell phone until I make a call, then it bounces all over the place.

At best, two bars indoors, generally only when standing by a window or door. Other services (Verizon, occasionally Sprint) have much better service, typically around 3-4 bars.

Maybe it's the overhead power lines, but there is very little reception (1, maybe 2 bars) turning off Braddock Rd on Colchester. I am an ATT Wireless customer and switched from Cingulr to find better reception. Not better. May now be worse following the merger with Cingular. Are they reducing power on the ATT subscribers???

Service is inconsistent; I live within one mile of a tower and calls drop; new dead spots show up continually; areas that once had perfect signal, now have no signal. I previously had US Cellular and never had a problem, unfortunately, they do not have a local store.

Cell singal fluctuates wildly between 0-3 bars, making it impossible (at times) to place a call without being dropped every 2-3 minutes. Called Cingular numerous times over the last 3 months and they claim it's not their equip -- actually stated that I should have "great" cell coverage due to my location.

Very poor service. Contacted Verizon customer service multiple times and was told Verizon does not guarantee service inside the apartment. When told that the service was very very poor even outside the apartment, they opened a ticket and promised to look into it. Three weeks later I still had not heard back from them. Called them and was told that they did a "drive through" test and found the service great. I know that it's not a problem with my phone because I have tried using phones of 4 of my friends and also I have updated the roaming capabilities of my phone. Although I have had Verizon for 3 years. They were very good initially but I am dropping them this year because their customer service seems to be becoming worse and worse.

Digital signal is VERY hard to reach; all that the VZW folks tell you to do is update your software. Three years of complains have done nothing to improve signals in this area. If Old Town Alexandria can bring WiFi to the streets, VZW can certainly improve cellular service to Fairfax County. Get with it!

Major Fitness Gym and large mall - While at the gym, I cannot make or receive calls and yet others are talking on their phones. Really frustrating as I do a lot of my shopping in this area. Calls drop if I even drive by the area. Please Verizon, fix this!

TDMA, I drive Braddock Rd from Centreville to Alexandria every day. I have signal in Centrevile, lose it at Colchester Rd, have no signal at Fairfax Co. Pkwy. inspite of a big tower right there, pick up signal at Rt 123 for a short distance, have some signal at Kings Park but have some drops until near the beltway, Rt 495.

Good reception in No VA, downtown DC, NW quadrant up to Bethesda. There's a dead spot on the metro line through Falls Church, but otherwise reception has generally been good all over, 3+ bars. Sometimes no reception in the center of large office buildings. Get occasional dropped call, but only on long conversations (10+ min). Thinking of switching to Cingular because I need a Windows OS Smartphone.

AT&T reception is average (3 bars) inside & outside. Cingular is 1 bar, dropped lines, depends where you are in the house, you may get lucky to connect and have a clear reception.
