The tower maps show it: N or W Falls Church / McLean have very few towers! We've been with Verizon for 5 years in a W. Falls Church house and have never gotten acceptable reception at home; calls drop ALL the time unless you walk outside and stand in the street. Calls will drop in numerous nearby locations, despite 3 bars or so. Near our families In the middle of nowhere, Michigan, Verizon coverage is better than in Northern Virginia, less than 10 miles from the White House. Go figure.

Falls Church / McLean / Great Falls and Idylwood, Falls Church, VA 22043 Wed Jun 14, 2006

Dropped calls and no service throughout Great Falls St. / Kirby Rd / Idylwood Rd. / West Falls Church Metro Area. Spotty service at best, often no service from Rt. 7 and Idylwood Rd to Mclean. We have tried Sprint, T-Mobile, and after being told Verizon gets the best coverage everywhere, now Verizon. If we are standing in the back portion of the backyard service sometimes works. Also in the corner of an upstairs bedroom, near a window service SOMETIMES works. On the rare occasion we can find a place in or near home to use our phone, the call is almost always dropped and service is no longer available at that time. We have called Verizon and are nicely told, we live in a dead area and they don't know what can be done about it. We find it curious they did not know we lived in a dead area when we were searching for a new service. They do continue to drop us a bill every month.

The reception in this area near the West Falls Church Metro has always been spotty for nearly all carriers, but it has gotten much worse over the last couple of months. My house is now basically one big dead spot! The reception is very bad, as well, on the portion of Westmoreland St. that is bracketed by Williamsburg Blvd. and Kirby Rd. I think the LG VX6000 has a tendency to drop calls everywhere in the country, but it is particularly bad in this area of Falls Church / McLean.

The phone does not work at all at my home in Falls Church. It cuts in and out on virtually every call. My wife insists on keeping the cell phones, but it feels to me like throwing money down a toilet.
