i live on fort belvoir and cannot get any reception. AT&T said that I am in a good coverage area and they will not let me off my contract. do not make the mistake of getting AT&T in the belvoir area
My phone constantly stays at 1 bar. Even when it decides to roam, still 1 bar. We just PCS'd here from IL and have 4 months left on our contract. We contacted Sprint and asked that they do us a solid as a sign of "good will" and let us out of our contract with no cancellation fee. Since they show coverage here, they will not let us out of our contract. I have had 1 recommendation that Verizon Wireless is the way to go.
The sales person at the Fort Belvoir Cingular store admits coverage is poor at best. I suspect we are below the line of sight from both the I95 corridor and What ever is up toward Huntington Station. Absolutly insane. I have had to put in a VOIP phone on my internet connection so I can make calls.
Every call drops when your car turns the corner from Fairfax County Pkwy. to Kingman Road. You can count on it like clockwork. Service returns as you turn into Defense Logistics Agency HQ. I've called Verizon many times and they claim there is coverage in this area.
Verizon Wireless on Fort Belvoir (and numerous other spots in the Northern VA area, such as Burke), is horrible, spotty at best... lots of dropped calls, and walking around looking for a spot that has a signal.
