I've had Verizon for over a year and a half now. In that time I've traveled up and down the east coast spending the majority of my time in harrisonburg. I've never not had a bar that I can remember. I'll say it again, never not had at least one bar. I get all my calls and txts on time. great company, better reception than any other provider by far even in small towns. Plus Verizon is only getting better. They spent over $30 billion in 2007 improving their signal. AT&T was second only spending $3 billion. Verizon might be more expensive, but the quality of serivce and ingenuity that goes into the business is fantastic.

Calls are regularly dropped / lost and go directly to voice mail while my phone sits idle, at home or at work, only to beep after the fact that I have voice mail. The folks at the store (Petsmart shopping center) are too busy with their chatty kathy girlfriend talk to pay any attention to helping resolve the issue, the attitudes I consistently get there are disgusting.

Drop calls daily, they've given me 3 new phones (same model) claiming it's the phone but it's not. then they said there's a dead spot out here and that's life they can't cover everything. then they said it's because my phone isn't digital (even though it is) and they could try a new model phone but oh yeah it would require a new 2-yr contract. Worst service and reception I've ever had. I laugh sadly every time I see that stupid commercial. No I can't hear you now!

Verizon Wireless has really good signals all up the east coast, so if you do a lot of traveling definitly go with them. But if you just hang around Harrisonburg its not a good choice in my opinion. First of all it has a average signal wherever you gom not the best I have seen. Second Verizon tends to overprice their service compared to other service providers. Alltel, Ntelos, and Sprint have about the same performance in Harrisonburg as Verizon does, but they are maybe $20 cheaper per month (depending on plan type and features). So I would go with any of those three if you want to save some money and have the same performance as Verizon. Just to be clear Verizon is a great company, considering they have the best coverage in the nation. But if you live in Harrisonburg they may not be the best choice.

I can see the cell tower from my house and when I'm outside my signal is two bars on a five bar scale. When I'm inside my home I have little or no reception. I've talked with Verizon and they are aware of the situation but don't offer any solution in the near future. Hey Verizon, can you hear me now!?!
