I have read a lot of comments and agree WE NEED MORE TOWERS! Reception through parts of Timberlake Rd, ( suck) For the past 6 mths or so I've had one problem or another and each time I call they blame the phone, this, that or the other and it has become such a hassle... ..I'm lucky here lately if I get one bar, and usually have to wear the blue tooth inside to talk at all. I hope ATT wakes and up and realizes we do more towers and espeically through certain parts of Timberlake Rd, they might be losing some good customers within the near future.

I've used Alltel and Verizon all around Lynchburg, Bedford, Forest, Roanoke, etc. These two are the best by far. Verizon uses Alltel's numerous towers in the area so these two rank at the same level. From what I understand, Verizon is putting up a tower in Lynchburg very soon which will bring full digital coverage for Verizon customers. I highly recommend Alltel or Verizon in the Lynchburg area. I would strongly caution against Sprint or TMobile in this area. They will get fine coverage in certain spots but not consistently like Alltel and Verizon. I have several friends and coworkers who have service through Sprint or TMobile who wish they could switch right now.

No reception in much of my home. I work from home. I am not pleased.

I have had Alltel for more than two years and have had no problems with reception. It's the best wireless company I have had. We only have cellphones with no landline phone at all so it is very important to get good reception. I would really like to switch to TMobile to get better rates but am a little leary to do so.

Coverage is good in most areas, but has gotten worse in the last two years. There is no coverage in most of Rivermont, near either hospital, and it drops calls everytime on Lakeside and Enterprise near Wyndhurst. I will have 5 bars in some areas and still not be able to make or keep a call. ANd then, three seconds later, I can. Very frustrating.

Alltel is pretty cool. Ive never had a problem with "no service" around Lynchburg. I have received the "all circuits busy" message a few times, but other than that it works fine. I would like to see Verizon wireless come to Lynchburg~ they are probaly the only service thats better.

Lots of dropped calls, bad reception, and spurious service. If the weather is bad then it gets even worse. Outside or inside there is a large dead zone for alltel. I haven't been very impressed with Alltel. I borrowed a Cingular phone for a month and had very few dropped calls and much better service everwhere.

Recent crossover from Alltel to Cingular because I go to college in Orlando. Service in Lynchburg is not nearly to the par of alltel. If I have two bars it is a miracle. Service at AREVA NP at Old Forest Rd is decent, but once again Alltel is the best for VA. If you are sometimes in VA Cingular will suit you fine also.

Map on Sprint website shows strong coverage. It is spotty all the way down the road as well as on U.S. 460 in the Falwell Airport area. Sprint customer service is horrid as well. Moved from county to city and got worse reception. Phone is horrid, also. Battery dies daily - and I just bought a new battery!

i have never had a dropped call. i've driven all over virginia and always had service. I live in a basement apartment and still get two bars of service, and no dropped calls.

I get 2 bars at most at my house and about 80% of my calls I make while at home get dropped. As far as around the city, I still get a lot of dropped calls. So much for the most bars anywhere and the least dropped calls. They definitely need to work on coverage around here, as well as customer service.

Cingular TDMA has done remarkable eventhough they are phasing this service out with the GSM. the only place were it is not good is in my home in the boonsboro area. I would like to know how well is GSM in this area. One other spot that is bad is near the 'YMCA' on enterprise where the road takes a dip.

I have had terrible reception using Cingular, I have no reception at our house, very poor in the Wiggington area, and spotty and dropped calls within Lynchburg City. Very disappointed in Cingular wireless for this area.

at home I get only 1 or 2 bars, but I am very happy with Sprint coverage with the no roaming plan I have.

Haven't lost a call in 3 months. I get near perfect signal everywhere! My co-workers have to go outside to make calls but I can call crystal clear from my office in the center of the building. I'm a Liberty University staff member; if you go to Liberty get Alltel!

Throughout Lynchburg, Charlottesville, and Richmond, Alltel has near-perfect reception. Calls are dropped occasionally, and you hit patches of roaming along 64 E to Richmond, but aside from that, no complaints but expense of plans and long wait for service in stores.
