Old Church Rd.has very poor service. I went to Verizon to use a hot spot to see if I could somehow find a way to get internet. Made a connection but speed was 65.0 thats dial up speed. Customer service told me thats the best in that area. Seams odd to me that my tax dollars were spent almost 2 years ago for the county to build a tower on Old Church Rd.and that they have not been able to get any cellular companies to lease a spot on it. I look at that tower everyday as I drive by and its empty. When they were building it I was able to find who to talk with at the county offices and they said it was for safety and secuity in the area and that cellular companies would get use. Never happened! Come on Hanover County push on this to help growth in that area. Trying to run a business from my house and have to use slow Hughes Net and no cellular service.

I work from home, use VPN and live in Old Church. I had to use Verizon Mobile Broadband - it was my only choice.. Either that or start going back into the office. Our signal is coming from King William since the tower on Spring Run is too short to do us any good so I had to buy a signal amplifier and antenna to boost my data reception. I consider my cell reception a lost cause. Old Church is surrouned by decent cell reception and high speed internet access but we're in the 'land that time forgot'.

Verizon works outside or if you have a good phone. An external yagi antenna and / or booster can get 2-3 bars and will get high speed net access. Verizon is really the only game in town in Hidden Lake. When inside, I hook my phone to a Yagi antenna and tether for internet access which is better than any of the alternatives as Satellite is horrible and dial up is the only other option. Tops out around 100k d / l speeds and low latency.

Had Alltel previously and could only receive occasional coverage in driveway, never inside house. Inside signal with Verizon was only fair until last month or so. Inside signal now consistent 3 bars. New tower I guess.

All throught out Mechanicsville you will get great reception with Alltel. Rt. 360 is at the heart of Mechanicsville and if you branch off down a side road you will continue to get great reception. I have only had one dropped call since I received my V710. The dissappointing T720 would give me trouble often. I also frequest W. Broad St.and I get 5 bars all the way through that area also. I have driven on I-64 also where one of the other comments was, and I can understand the dropouts in that area. The road is VERY hilly and I get dropouts even from XM Satellite Radio moving through those areas. I dont see how any service could provide reception that far below sea level.

Verizon offers incredible reception for me anywhere I go. BUT I want an Iphone and AT&T doesn't work at all in this area with very sporadic reception. Customer service at Verizon isn't all it's cracked up to be, but it's tolerable. I do so wish a tower would be erected near my home so I can use another service provider other than Verizon. But, if it's excellent reception coverage you want in the New Ashcake area near the rescue squad, then Verizon's the one!

Reception gets worse the farther in the subdivision you go. Can hold a conversation up 95 onto sliding hill but once you make the turn... .goodbye. At home, nothing on the first floor, some success outside and 2nd floor. Really didn't have these issues until 1 / 1 / 09 - "maybe tower contract ran out"? Battery consumption has jumped as well.

This is becoming a heavily populated area, but my calls get dropped all the time. Why can't we get another Verizon tower out here? It's ridiculous. I get great coverage everywhere else arround the Greater Richmond area, but not at my house where I have a home office.

While there is coverage on the periphery of the Kings Charter subdivision, most of the subdivision has very poor T-Mobile coverage. In most cases, calls have to be made from outside the house and even then with deliberate positioning of the phone to achieve a decent connection.

Verizon works better in Old Mechanicsville than it does on the other side of 301. I can get perfectly talkable reception indoors (but not always digital service) and as I drive around Mechanicsville, I've never really lost a call. Atlee Station and Sliding Hill area has poor signal and calls usually have to be made outside.

I live in a fairly populated place with a number of houses and apartments and the city so close that I was disappointed with the service I got with Sprint, but I'd heard Cingular and Verizon weren't particularly better here. So I tried Alltel and the reception went from 1 bar to 5 bars. I love Alltel's service here and I don't know why it's such a problem area for other carriers. But I'm trying to spread the word and get a few of my neighbors to switch over because I've heard their complaints. But I do have a full signal at my house near studley rd and at Bon Secours where I work. I also know that my son is happy with it at Atlee HS. But all over the area here it has been really good. I'm also on the 900 min family plan and for the price, it seems like Alltel gives more minutes + my circle (unlimited to 10 numbers) which is a nice bonus others don't offer. Overall, it seems like a good plan with coverage that's a lot better than others I hear about and have tried.

I live in a large established subdivision and get virtually no reception at home. I work in northern Hanover and reception varies from zero to 4 bars. Reception was great when I lived in Henrico. According to a Cingular rep, they're working on it but Mville limits installation of new towers. I'll probably switch carriers soon, maybe to Alltel.

Even with bars, frequently the call drops. I have to move around outside of my house in the yard to get any reception. Not very good when I work from home and need the number accessible. I've tried other services such as Verizon and although it is similar, none are sufficient in this area.
