Verizon has the best service compare to any other company that we had. we get great reciption in the house. Other people that don't get good reciption with Verizon it could be simply they have older phone and need to be updated. So every one year or two year you can get new phone with the new technology and software. In our area the best place to go and shop for Verizon Cell phone is Talk Wireless, Verizon Wirless Authorized Retailer in Oakton. 2946Q Chain Bridge Rd. Oakton, VA 703 - 255 - 1666 I am realy pleased with the service that I get from this location
T-mobile. Great everywhere else but home. Never a reception in home. In yard, I can receive but can't call out without getting an "Emergency Calls Only" message or a "No Network" messages. Multiple redials eventually gets a call out (are they using someone else's tower?). Once I get the call it is good and holds as long as I don't go inside. (This is over a period of a months use before cancelling) AT&T. Reception in yard fine. Reception in home tolerable. *Generally* reception in home works with two important stipulations. First, I am not deep in the house. Second, bad weather and night-time compromise indoor use. During the day in good weather I can get good reception almost all over the house. I have even quickly run through the deeper parts of the house to get other parts and won't lose the signal, the audio with just get choppy momentarily until I get to more well windowed and doored parts of the house. At night I need be in well windowed and doored areas. When it rans I have to stand at the window or door. Often at night or bad weather, I will just leave my cell at a window with the ringer on max and use the phone like a land line. (This is over a period of a years use, before the plan ran out and I decided not to renew and to experiment with other companies, the T-Mobile experiment clearly favored AT&T though) Tough area for cells. I have neighbors I can see pace in their yards as they talk on their cells (you have to go outside for strong reception).
At the heart of the Internet world in Fairfax County, it amazes me that Verizon cannot provide cell service. I can get one bar on the phone standing on my left foot on the front doorstep. Such a shame... Verizon, you have yet to start working for me. Have you heard me yet?
In the house, can get incoming ring rarely, but many result in not able to pick up, or dropped calls. Outside the house, signal is very poor. Can place calls only occasionally. Very poor service for such a well-reputationed provider as Verizon WIreless.
Most companies have very little reception in this area because of all the densly wooded areas. However, as soon as you move away from all the trees, Verizon has a excellent reception throughout Fairfax County.
We get one bar, sometimes you can answer a call but generally not. I'm really hoping Verizon puts a tower in here. We recently had a repairman here working and his Nextel phone worked great, so we will look into switching. Anyone have solid info on the tower at the Church on Vale? Please Post!
I have all the carriers... here is a summary. Cingular is average here, even inside the house. TDMA Cingular is above average. GSM Cingular is below average, but is very useable. Verizon is very poor. You can get a ring but you cannot answer the phone. T-Mobile practically does not exist. Sprint practically does not exist. There are plans to build a tower at the Church of Northern VA which is on a hill directly across Berryland subdivision on Vale Road. This tower will cover all of the areas we frequently complain about--most of Vale Road, all of Birdfoot Road / Stuart Mill Road, most of Fox Mill Road, and the horse farms. It will be a fake tree and have most carriers on it (but I think Cingular is unlikely since they have adequate coverage here due to many nearby towers).
We have tried other Motorola phones and also LG. We have no reception at all in the house, outside depends on where you stand and the bars go from 3 to 0.
