I really cant understand where alot of these comments are comming from... I have been an ATT customer for almost 8yrs dating back to when it was called Suncom. I have been through my fair share of phones, different makes and models. I have NO complaints at all with ATT. I always have wonderful service no matter where I am around town even driving through tunnels. I think one thing most people fail to relize is that no matter your carrier, you will always have a dead spot here and there due to building and change in landscape. My wife was with Verizon and I always had service wherever she did. The only difference between the two carriers was that dealing with Verizon would cause most people to pull their freaking hair out. They were the most incompatent people that I had ever delt with. She ended up switching to ATT and has been perfectly satisfied with her BB 8820.

The reception all over Portsmouth is always very good and at full signal. Great signal in all tunnels, interstates, perfect signal at Wal-Mart, at the park, mall, and at home. I've not even seen the signal drop to 4 bars anywhere outside and the signal stays strong indoors too. I wasn't unhappy with the service from my last provider, but Alltel is so much better. The signal is strong all over Hampton roads and I don't have any probles either in N.C. or going west toward Suffolk. Perfect signal and that's the only way I know to describe it. Alltel also has good rate plans and is the best option for this area.

At my son's house in Churchland most of the time I have no reception - cannot send or receive calls. When I leave his house and drive down Cedar Lane, once I've passed Rt. 164, my reception comes back - all 5 bars.

Cingular drops my calls all over Churchland, which is where I live, shop, run errands, etc. I'm dumping Cingular, but I don't really see any sure bets for an alternative.

Nextel is the only cell service that I can get reception at my house. I have had pretty much everything and Nextel is the only one that works... unfortunately I cant get any reception at work so I had to switch to Sprint.

I have never been able to receive a signal at my house here or anywhere near it. I also lived in the Riverfront and had very poor reception if any. However, one week after Hurricane Katrina, I sat on the beach of Bay St. Louis, MS and had five bars. How is it that I can't get a signal at my place where I buy the service but can get it easy at an area that was hit by a major hurricane? Cannot understand that at all!

Generally good around Hampton Roads area, but spotty in Churchland, esp. around River Shore at the Middle School and Churchland Academy area. Also spotty in some areas of Williamsburg and remote areas of 64 between there and Richmond. At home in Twin Pines area I have to stand next to a window to get even somewhat good reception.

I have had GREAT reception all over Tidewater Virginia since 2000; it's the only reason I have stayed with SPrint. I have never bought a phone from Sprint but get hand-me-downs from my sister. I would love to spend money on a new Sprint Phone but I prefer Motorola quality and menu navigation. If I can't get a good deal from Sprint / Nextel then I am going to have to switch carriers in order to get a nice phone. Sorry Sprint but I really like Motorola Phones and I shouldn't have to wait two years for a decent phone selection. C'est La Vie. Asension Torres

I get great reception in the Hampton Roads area, even while in ALL of the tunnels and on the Naval bases. I travel to MD, PA, NJ often and have never had a problem. Even got great service in Jamaica, WI! The ONLY place I get "NO SERVICE" message is on Route 13, going to Ahoskie, NC--I get service in Suffolk, but it quits as I leave Suffolk, going towards Ahoskie. I get good reception on 460 west going to Blackstone / Crewe area, also good going to Nags Head area.
