Rumor has it that The Tower in Pound, Va is only operating at 25%. If you get about a mile away from the tower we have no reception.

I just signed up for service and can sometimes get 1-2 bars and enough to make a call outside. But I gave a generous rating because Alltel is placing a tower in Pound very soon according to the October 18th Coalfield. They were the only provider that was mentioned as being on the tower here and no other provider that I know of works near as well as Alltel in Wise and Pound. -Adam

Altel has limited reception, when they had analog service and bag phones it was better. Now with this new Digital Crap, service is hit and miss. There is no service in the Pound area. The tower is on top of the mountain and nothing gets into the area. This would be a good place for someone to put a tower but no carrier cares because Pound is such a small place

All I know is, AT&T coverage sucks... ANYWHERE. I sure hope my Verizon coverage in SWVA is not affected by this takeover of Alltel properties. I cannot stand the thoughts of switching carriers (especially to AT&T). Sure would NEVER be an iClone and purchase the infamous iPhone 4. But I am sure many "sheep" will be glad to shell out hundreds of dollars to upgrade their handsets to a GSM device when the Alltel network switches to it from CDMA. Like I said, better not affect my Verizon coverage. If it does, I'll go back to a landline before I become a monkey and buy an iPhone.
